The January 2025 Window

Why is there no news of anything? This must be the dullest transfer window ever. I loved all the speculation in the old days now due to constraints there is nothing. I’m not just talking about us, I’m talking overall.

I miss Dazza.

Please Don’t! 😄

This transfer window has been a breath of fresh air without that stroker posting his rehashed sh!te guess work.

In breaking news Jeff Stelling, former face of Sky Sports Football, has revealed that Crystal Palace are his second or maybe third favourite team; after his beloved Hartlepool Monkey Hanger's of course.
Crystal Palace Chairman - Steven Parish was quick to comment on the story on the club's Facebook account, stating "Having such a high profile person as Jeff literally state that he quite likes Crystal Palace is a huge boost to the club's reputation. The potential new income this revelation could generate will almost certainly act like having an extra man in the team. Therefore, we feel little need to invest in further squad members when it's clear that we can take steps forward as a club by not buying anyone in, what is a difficult, January window".
Eagles Boss Oliver Glasner was asked to comment on the latest developments but refused to be drawn into a discussion at such an exciting time for the future of Crystal Palace Football Club.

Who needs oligarchs, tech billionaires and oil rich investors when we've got the bloke who used to present Countdown?

I'm not going to get excited as I think we've probably been thrown into the pool to make the story more interesting, but what a signing he would be. It would be odd if we signed another forward and still didn't sign a LB/LWB.

Only the other day, privately, I was suggesting the 'Salford Silva'.

We must be looking for defensive cover of sort, or willing to bring Rob Holding back into the fold.

We have versatility in a few positions but assuming Doucoure is done for the season, the idea that the below is sufficient to cover 7 positions really isn't going to fly.

Mitchell
Guehi
Lacroix
Richards
Clyne
Ward
Munoz
Kporha
Lerma
Kamada
Hughes
Wharton

We are a Guehi, Mitchell, Lacroix injury away from a real headache. It probably forces Lerma back into defence but then the midfield looks really light even with a fit Wharton.

Ward is out injured according to the EPL Injury Table site, also for the 1st time for a long while Rob Holding has disappeared from the same. He played for the U21's monday. So, you well may be right, you missed out Devenny.

It's being reported that Doucoure is out for six months. With no sign of Wharton returning in the near future we suddenly look light in the middle. Neither Devenny or Kamada look suited to the no.6 role so if Lerma or Hughes got injured we have issues. With Chalbobah gone and Riad out for the season we are also down to the bare bones in central defence. An injury or a suspension to our back three and suddenly we're relying on Clyne or Ward. I think another 6 points will probably be enough to keep us up, but our squad is going from thin to anorexic. If no more players come through the door it could be an uncomfortable run in unless we have more fortune with injuries.

Just read that Wharton is back in full training. Believe what you will of that.

(bottom bit of article.)

Doucoure has got such massive thigh muscles it would appear to be straining his lower joints. Big blow.
Agree with all your points, even if Wharton returns, we will still be light based on injury history of current squad.

After a quiet few days, there seems to be a few rumours floating around. What are people's thoughts

- Mathys Tel (Bayern) - I think very unlikely. Prob agent talk

- Marcus Edwards (Sporting CP) - may have legs. Not sure how much we need him, but could be a good signing as another winger. Highly rated and we did try in the summer apparently.

- Bright Osayi-Samuels (Fenerbahce) - Do we need another right back? Although a friend said to me he can play LB too, but is right-footed.

- El-Hadji Malick Diouf (Slavia Prague) - 2 bids in. Both rejected. Club don't seem keen to sell and not to us.

Obviously all rumours at this point.

Ozoh's fit again. May have to recall him as OG played him in defence as well as midfield
We get so many injuries during training

Possibly the most likely given his price and close association with Eze (i.e. an Olise "replacement" to get Eber's mojo back).

Yes, we do need cover at RB. If nothing else, Munoz needs the odd rest.

Problem is, he will suffer a serious injury getting out of the taxi on his way to sign the contract.

Diouf is the one we really need.

P.S. Spurs have made an offer, Chelsea are sniffing around and Man Utd are quoted by the "reliable" Transfermarkt as 78% likely to sign Tel.

The inclusion of Palace as suitor must come as surprising news to Dougie.

Everyone's forgetting the enquiries we make for players who definitely won't come here but try to make the manager and fans feel like we're ambitious.
That’s a bit unfair. We bring in big name players every now and then. Who can forget the mighty Tomas Brolin and Edgar Davis in the red and blue 😉
