Freedman is the favourite to replace the newly departed Ashworth at Manchester United.
He was strongly linked before with the role, but there was then a rumour that he had signed a new deal with Palace after Ashworth took the Unired position.

Louie Barry at Stockport might be worth a look, he's on loan from villa

Indeed, I posted on another thread. 14 goals this season! All round player. Big enough and can hold the ball up, dribble and finish. Very motivated.
However, Villa highly rate him and renewed his contract at the beginning of the season. They now want to recall him, loan him to a championship side and renew the contract again.

Sounds like Utd aren't looking to replace him.....head strong owner thinks he can do better?

All a bit mental, considering they paid Newcastle compensation and waited longer for him that he ended up being in the role for.

I heard they're going to use one of the stats/ data analysis companies now. I believe Brighton do similar.

Correct. Tony Bloom's own company called 'Starlizard' they also signed a deal with Hearts & Union Saint Gilloise both of which Bloom has 'interest' in.
All seems a bit extravagant. I’d just use Football Manager and let them do all the hard work

His list of signings for the Manure are hardly great. Not sure he was that good for Newcastle either?

Dougie should leave well alone unless his after one final pay day.

No not great.

I did wonder if him moving to Newcastle and then Utd would work.

At Brighton, the best signings took 2,3,4 years to be ready for the first team. Bloom was obviously ok with that and the general money ball approach. I can imagine Newcastle and Utd would have been expecting/demanding more instant results.

Now most of the squad has returned to fitness, and the results have started to improve. Thing feel more complicated from a transfer perspective. IMO we are lacking in a few areas:

Forwards:
Kamada and Nketiah, haven't made the impact the club would have wanted. And Franca hasnt yet played a part. Adding to the issue is Eze's form. Feels like we really need to add one more body into the mix here. Cherki, Esse etc.

CM creativity
Whilst Hughes has been playing well, without Wharton we really struggle linking midfield to attack. Can we gamble that he'll be fit to play the rest of the season. Can Deveny do this? I really like the look of Chris Rigg, would love to get the jump on the competition and bring him in now.

LWB
When will it not be an issue. TM is solid, if not exceptional. But would be great to at least have some competition.

I really think the two areas we need to add are:

LWB - Needed for a while. Our fill-ins for this position are weak, and Mitchell is fairly one dementional. I think a true attacking LWB would transform the team.

RWB - A backup for Munoz. Yes, Clyne can fill in for now, but how much longer will his legs hold up. A younger version who can train / fill-in for Munoz next year is a key.

I think we're okay with goalies, CBs, central midfielders, the 2 behind the striker.

Striker we could do with another (like almost every other team) behind Mateta, but Nketiah can fill in. I hold out hope he will make good over time.

We already have one, he is on loan at Bromley & doing alright.

I know we used to joke about us buying midfielders when we seemed to already have stacks of them but it was only a few weeks ago our midfield duo consisted of an under 21 we were forced to give a debut to (Devenny) and a central defender we were forced to try in midfield (Guehi). I think we need another one in…McAtee?

Click bait has us buying at least 3 players from Lyon, I will be surprised if we even buy one.

Textor is desperate to raise money to avoid relegation.

He hasn't sold his share in Palace despite the claims that various people are fighting for them.* He's now trying to get a bidding war going on the most saleable players.

If these players are any good they will go to the highest bidder which is unlikely to be us. If they are not that great I would hope Dougie will say thanks John but no thanks.

*My guess is that Harris and Blitzer are simply sitting back and waiting. The closer the deadline for Lyon's relegation gets the lower the price of his Palace shares. I think they will buy them back when it suits them.

As for the so called other buyers, there are always chancers who want to buy a club using the club's money (Man united) but I doubt Parish et al will allow that. As for the so called Billionaire's if they are serious why haven't they done it? I'm afraid it's wishful thinking that there are ultra rich people desperate to put their money into Palace.

Found a link for the bit in bold, 2 of them scored last night in Lyon's 3-2 victory.

Another one but from 'TheBootRoom'. Must be same source however it is on the BBC!
We've been linked to that Nuamah for ages. That's how long we usually take. Almost bound to be him.
However, he hasn't been a regular really. The best player from the Lyon v Eintracht match would be Marmoush. He's like Salah in style but quicker. Next best Cherki. Nuamah - a bit of a risk. Think Bolasie but not that strong or quick.
