The January 2025 Window

I can remember some bloke saying he was a must signing for us 8m from Bristol City, Cant remember who that was now 🤔
I remember you pointing him out, and as a follower of championship football I noted his all action displays for Bristol City at the time and thinking that Semenyo looked like a Palace type player.
There was a rumour that Palace had a deal in place for Semenyo, but Vieira didn't want him.
Obviously some players slip through the net and Semenyo definitely falls into that category.
At least we got Wharton, Eze and Olise from the Championship so the overall record is not too bad.

What sort of forward do you think, i agree, a left footed winger/attacking midfielder?
Like I said, I like Romain Esse at Millwall, but he's very inexperienced and there would be questions as to whether he's actually better than Jes. Other than that I have no idea. Get your crystal ball out Lanzo!

I would go for Almiron from Newcastle, out of favour there, Left footed, centre and right wing, out of contract, good injury record, could be a decent bridge until Rak-Sakyi or Franca are ready

Defo need back ups for LWB and RWB, a couple of players who might fit in:

Festy Ebosele and Alfie Doughty

Would also go for Sainz

I've got an inside source at the club who has reliably informed me that we'll be linked with players with phenomenal YouTube highlight reels all month, before ultimately settling for another centre back and an U16 Scottish player from St Mirren on deadline day, who will immediately be loaned back. Steve Parish will then label it a 'difficult window to do business in'.

Only passing on what I've heard, don't shoot the messenger.

I like his effort and he's quick but his goal and assist return is pretty poor for a right winger. When Newcastle were flying a couple of seasons ago he was great, but can he rediscover that in a struggling team? A good option from the bench, but he's unlikely to swap Newcastle's bench for ours.

Palace refused to pay the asking fee for Semenyo they kept trying to low ball as they always do dragging it out which is why they missed out on another player.

Yup, it maybe we did not have the funds which seemed to have happened on a number of occasions.
He joined Bournemouth in January 2023 for £10m.
Who did we buy then?
Answer Ahamada for £9.7m

I wonder who got the better deal? 😉

PS I was with Lanzo on this one and couldn't comprehend why we didn't go for Semenyo when we had the chance.

See that it's Wharton's turn to be sold by click bait, Arsenal & City to name but two . . .

Good grief we got robbed on the Ahamada deal when you see it like that. On the other hand I suppose that is what can happen when you buy young, unproven players with talent. For every Olise, Eze and Wharton there’s an Ahamada.

That can fund 4 more centre backs

I said in the summer we should try and get McAtee on loan as the boy is class. Now it seems that City are willing to sell. Right winger who cuts in on his left foot and who can play as a central attacking midfielder. At £20 million or less this would be a steal in my view.
Yep agree, would be very interested in this.

The next Cole Palmer?

and Franca!

But to be fair, have/should make at least 30/40m profit on Olise, Eze, Wharton, can afford the odd mistake. Franca seams a particularly bad one though

Does anybody have the feeling i have that Mateta and Guehi are both going to be sold in the Jan Window, if that did happen and we had 70m to spend who would you buy?
2 goalkeepers, 2 centre backs, an irish kid & an injured european/south american winger & definitely NOT a LWB we've all been crying out for.

Sorry, misread post i thought you meant SP . . . 😉
