Franca injured

I doubt he is costing more than Ferguson. Do you really think that clubs pay vast amount of money on players and not have them insured to cover any loss through injuries. We are nowhere near the worst at having crocked players.
According to 'Capology' he is on £40k pw, tho Lanzo uses another site which may be more reliable than this one . . . 2024-2025 Crystal Palace Salaries and Contracts

This appears now to be a weakness in Francas body that is on going . Abductor injuries/strains affect other parts of the body and indeed can be diagnosed or even pre warned against by reporting aches and pains
The lower back injury when he arrived , groin/hip/ pelvic injury in March that suggested he struggled when he stepped up his training .
The rib injury was unfortunate but again having heeled from that has problems again with his groin when increasing the training .
ALL his injuries bar the bruised/cracked rib are the same injury or signs of the same injury that being a long term weakness in the abductor groin .

We all know he was injured when he arrived and it would seem he has had this injury for some time . From the text of a groin specialist I have just read ....." Groin strains if left untreated can lead to chronic pain and instability, over time the body compensates for the injury , this can result in altered movement patterns . This compensation can lead to the risk of further injuries not only in the groin area but also in the hips ,knees and lower back "

Wish him all the best and really do hope its not the doom and gloom scenario it looks like being

Which is covered in some part by insurance whilst injured. Premier players are insured against injury, only a fool would invest £18m on a player and not cover themselves against any huge loss.
What exactly are you insuring against? Genuinely interested, perhaps you can explain how it works? When he misses 3 games. 10 games, half a season etc. I just can’t imagine a realistic scenario where we can insure against a loss of £40k per week. It would cost almost as much for the policy given the nature of the sport.

I would imagine that in this risk averse environment we find ourselves in, clubs would probably take most of the hit on themselves.

If your that interested have a read.

Thanks, it’s all about the numbers and sadly and not unexpectedly there is no indication of the cost compared to what you receive.

When I worked in the Civil Service, they bore their own risk as ultimately it was cheaper to do it that way rather than insure. I can see the benefit of players taking their own policies out, but with clubs it must be marginal cost wise as to whether they have contractural agreements with their players or pay for policies.

Not going to see him this year. This could well turn into this season. Sad if the injuries are the full reason, but he was injured when we bought him. Why would you do that, particularly for unproved talent?
Is the answer one of our owner? It's just frustrating and we should have learned by now.

The club travel half way round the world to acquire a kid who had played a handful of senior games. Wow, he must be good! How come then Portuguese, Spanish, Italian clubs weren't in the race? Or perhaps they were, maybe Parish outbid the lot of them...
The Brazilian club are laughing all the way to the bank.

As I recall, wasn't it Textor who 'found' him?
Allegedly loads of other clubs took a look but parked it. All seems very strange.

He looked skilled when we saw him play BUT he was pushed around a lot - he was not physical enough.

The kid has been known about for a long time even Football manager fans knew about him.

A lot of the bigger clubs didnt want to pay the high fee Palace was stupid again and paid it.

People need to stop claiming Textor for things he has almost no input which is why he wants out

I take that as a 'no' then.

Wrong. It was Textor who encouraged Freedman to fly to Brazil, twice I seemed to remember, to look at the lad. Textor knew more about the Brazilian league than anyone at Palace.

Ah football manager. If only we’d signed Stefan Selakovic, Agbar Barsom and Frederick Risp back in 2001 we’d have been world beaters. Well according to Championship Manager at the time
