Franca injured

I'd completely forgotten about that cameo!

I think that was the one glimpse and instance where I thought 'Hang on, perhaps there is a player there'.
🤞🤞I think it's going to be very difficult for him.Depends how resilient he is, and whether he has a winner's mentality

I reckon he needs a season loan in the Championship to toughen him up a bit and get him playing regularly. I definitely think there is a decent player in there but he needs to prove he can stay fit and he’ll only do that playing regular matches, not just training.

He has really dropped down the pecking order, largely due to injury. Tough track ahead. Just hope he has got the steel needed to break through, both physically and mentally.

He's 20, slender, and far from home. Give him time. Unless he has issues with motivation, he'll be excellent – maybe even a player we'll have a difficult time retaining.

Is there any news on a return date for Franca?

I’m not expecting him to be the solution to everything, but it would be good to have another attacking option of the bench.

Latest reports were that he has started training but still staying away from physical contact. He ruptured ligaments in his ribs and although now healed he apparently still feels uncomfortable. I would imagine he’s probably 2/3 weeks away from training fitness and will then need to get match fit presumably with the u21s.

Perhaps you weren’t at the home game with Burnley last season or didn’t see his cameo at the Etihad, he looked good enough then to be at least a useful impact sub.

Franca is fit but only started training this week but as he has been out for six months it was felt he need not be rushed so will not be at Goodison.
Source is OG btw if anyone doubts my post.,

We haven't seen that much of him but he does look like he's got some talent. Just thought - is it possible we're judging him differently because he happens to be Brazilian rather than a lad from Croydon?

It's true Teddy, there is a certain mystique that surrounds Brazilian lads because they apparently spend all their time playing football on the beach, which is supposed to hone their skills.

But then, kids from South London spend their time playing in cages, and they can be pretty useful with a football.

I sincerely hope Franca pulls through this injury episode and is then given the chance to really show us how good he is. From the little we've seen of him so far, it does look like the lad has potential to shine.

And the transfer fee.

It was a lorra lorra money, for a young lad with very little experience.

Really hope he can stay fit now for a while and can start to get some minutes

I just hope the poor bug**r doesn’t subscribe to this site. His confidence would be shot to pieces. Give him a chance. He’s had some bad luck with his injuries but let’s judge him once he’s been back playing for a bit.

One possible positive from his woes is there's less pressure on him now as expectations have been tempered. He was essentially seen as Wilf's replacement when he arrived given the money involved and the lack of other transfer activity. Since then we've signed three more forward-thinking players in Kamada, Sarr and Nketiah and so he can be gradually reintroduced. In an ideal world, he'll improve as the season goes on with an eye to filling Eze's boots if he leaves next summer.

Sod that Im putting every ounce of pressure on him I can muster . This is the big boys league and the second coming of Neymar can't come quick enough for me .Don't care who makes way for him , get him on the pitch and unleash his God given talents on the World .
Franca! Franca ! Franca!

(Hope that reinstates confidence 😉)

He is looking to be a terrible buy, compared to proven, fit players - remember he came with a bad back and is doing a good imitation of Ferguson and Wickham - compare his money with Wharton and Olise, we were sold a bill of goods. Having said that, he showed flashes of quality when he came on as sub, but it is a real problem at his age if he can't handle the physicality. Way better young, proven players in the Championship we could have picked up for the same money or less.
