Franca injured

I admire your optimism- but won’t hold my breath. Back, hip, groin, ribs, groin. Pelvis, etc etc. for a young professional sportsman he has one hell if an injury prone body. I’ll be amazed to see him on the pitch again, but stranger things have happened at Palace over the years.
quite right, what with modern technology, you're probably old enough to remember the six million dollar man, you know what they said about Steve Austin, " we can rebuild him." Fingers crossed.

Not sure what the back injury was about but probably not sport related and he recovered from it. The rib fracture was a freak injury. I’m not sure either of these is an indication that he’s “injury prone” as a footballer. The hip and groin stuff is similar to Wharton and seems prevalent in young players. Hopefully he’s over the worst and we’ll see him and Wharton being eased back to fitness over the coming months.

Started for the U21's v Villa(3-0) last night lasted 62mins before being subbed & not injured. Played in the Eze/Kamada role on the left, though spent most of his time coming inside centrally, looking for the ball. Was tidy & whilst the game wasn't overly aggressive, you could see he was, at first, hesitant going into tackles & being tackled, grew in confidence as the game wore on. A good outing & much needed minutes for him.

That sounds encouraging anyway. Hopefully we'll get to see him and Chilwell together before long. It'll need to be quite soon!

i watched the full game franker did ok as a £20 mill player he might turn out to be ok ,but the player who really caught my eye was #4 luke brown seen him play a few times looks a real decent prospect villa had some good attackers who have played for their first team he dealt with everything they had with ease

Good to hear! It's nice to see our own young players come through.

This chap?

luke brown irish lad looked the best played on the pitch

I read a stat that said only one percent of academy players make it to the Premiership....thinking about it that stat must be higher for those that make it to the U21s.

Let's hope that our percentage is higher considering our famed youth set up and that you spotted one of them here.

Speaking as a complete layman I would have thought that the most important areas in terms of understanding whether a player is an injury magnet are the leg muscles, hamstrings, knee and groin areas......If a player isn't robust there then it's going to be an expensive problem.

Obviously the groin issue is noted but I tend to agree with you that perhaps Franca has had bad luck here because back issues can usually be sorted out in a gym and by getting older and a rib......like you say a freakish injury.
