It is possible for us to accept a lower than release clause bid whilst a release clause is active.

There was no reason for either side to wait for it to expire if a below release clause deal were to now happen.

Yeah it does, it's literally what we were trying to do with Diomande before something stopped us - maybe he wanted Europa League.

Kudus had a release clause of >80m and Tottenham got him a lot lower than that.

The release clause is only there to appease the player so they have a way out of the club. If the selling club is willing to agree to a fee below the release clause, its existence was irrelevant.

Do you honestly think that a 31 year old John Stones would be a bench warmer for us? Honestly.

We took Cahill from Chelsea who was miles away from the first team, he was great for us.

Stones/maxim/another , assuming guehi goes.
