Time to start doing Business Steve..!!

How much would Semenyo cost I wonder?

I saw a stat we are the lowest spenders across the top 5 leagues in Europe. Is this linked to Textor leaving?
It really is very bizarre. Are we in trouble financially? We got millions for 10th, won 2 trophy’s, have European football ahead of us. Reduced the squad size by releasing players. The above sounds great if we added players beyond the 2 that joined. It’s really disappointing. I understand the window is still open but I feel we will recruit only when we sell which means something has changed / is wrong

We tried to sign him and again missed out because we wouldn't pay the fee we kept messing about offering things like 6-7m and he went for around 10m typical Palace I expect same has happened this window.

Noting to do with Textor leaving.

I said it many times this is what we do end up always waiting until towards the end and then bring in panic buy which we over pay for.

SP has been too much focused on the UEFA stuff.

I see Forest are now spending a fortune and bringing in decent players.

Getting a bit fed up with the whole situation. Still waiting patiently for something to happen but I just know SP is saving his, “we managed to hold onto Guehi and Eze” speech until the window closes and we have bought another goalkeeper (just in case the other 4 we have are injured) and a 16 year old from Shamrock Rovers who will never play for us.
Difference being Forest are spending big on players to change their starting 11. Our starting 11 doesn’t need changing. Unless of course Guehi and/or Eze leave? Then we require 2 first team signings. What we do need is a bigger squad so that we have better quality on the bench. A couple of decent loan signings will hopefully come in soon? We also have injuries which will bolster our squad once they are back. Let’s not panic unless we sell Guehi and Eza

Getting decent players, that are happy to be bench warmers isn't as easy as many people think.

Really?
I suspect that we wait till the end because there are players who have not got moves and are desperate. There is also less time to negotiate or get into biding wars with other clubs, which we avoid.

Sometimes it works well, and sometimes you miss out on players because of the time limit.

We can't compete with the bigger clubs on fees or wages. Parish knows where we sit in the pyramid.

Exactly, I would expect every signing to be pushing for a starting spot otherwise you are not good enough to play in the PL or have zero ambition.

I also don’t subscribe to just bringing in average players unless they are loans. If our starting 11 picks up 3 injuries and a ban which is not unheard of for us lot then all of a sudden your cracking first 11 starts looking like a weak team.

You need a nucleus of about 18 players that are all capable of starting and then the remainder can be youngsters and bench warmers.

Semenyo was a cracking buy that was identified by several posters on here. He would have been a decent and relatively low priced addition to our squad.

I understand Bournemouth signed him for £9 Mill rising to £10.5 Mill.
Before he signed for Bournemouth,I was abroad and engaged in conversation with a Bristol City supporter who had been involved in the 'World' of football. He provided me details about Semenyo's playing attributes.

When I look at our squad we have a great first team. We could only really strengthen who plays alongside Wharton.

What we need (if we don't loose anyone) is squad players. Perhaps it's harder to convince someone to come to sit on the bench and fill in for injuries?

So if a club who missed out on top four on the last day of the season belive they need to improve their first team, what makes you think a team who finished 12th doesn't need to improve theirs ? We do have a decent first 11 who will give anyone a game on their day but why do people think we should be signing players to sit on the bench, we should be signing players that offer genuine competition to our starting 11, thats how you strengthen.

Correct, especially for a consistently bottom half team, who are playing in the conference not the champions league

We may be living the dream as fans, especially after our trophy wins and now European football, but as a club we’re still bargain hunting I should imagine

We had the chance at the time to buy him from Bristol City for 8m, we offered 6.5 and he went to Bournemouth, i said at the time, he was the nearest i had seen to Wilf, now 65m, Midlands Eagle said similar at the time.

Honestly don’t think we have the money. Think that’s what Franca and nketia were. Our board have the money but due to psr etc we don’t have the money.

Pretty obvious id say, considering it’s taken eze to drop out the squad and likely go shortly, for us to bid for khannous

With potentially eight additional matches in Europe, I am not concerned that a reasonably good player will spend too much time on the bench. Given the current squad size, I am more concerned about what our starting eleven will look like on Boxing Day.

Starting to feel like the season after we finished 3rd. So many hopes that we would push on, but ended up selling our best player and buying a completely inadequate replacement. Major difference is this time we have won the FA Cup and have Europe to look forward too.

However, seems we don’t have a pot to piss in until we sell, and looks like we’ll have the same sell and scramble for new players in the last week of the transfer window, completely disrupting everything and throwing pre season out the window. Glasner has been given no reason to sign a new contract.

I honestly hoped that the board would see the chance to improve their investment by putting aside a pot for transfers earlier in the window.

Don’t want to feel negative after all we have achieved in the last year, but it feels like we have reached the top of the rollercoaster and are now starting the descent.

I fear for the depth of this squad. 4 or 5 injuries and we could be at the wrong end of the table.

We have missed a opportunity.

I hate do say it, but it looks like Textor was right

Eze out of the squad tomorrow due to Spurs interest according to Sky which means we are likely considering letting him go for less than his release clause. If this happens I truly give up with our management.

Dont worry, all the experts on here said he would turn down arsenal, if they had a bid accepted, so no chance he will sign for spurs.
