World cup 2026

The Azteca.

Mexico top 10 ranked team.

Home advantage.

Fully acclimatized.

Have not left their home base.

4 straight wins. No goals conceded.

Comparisons: Argentina scraped past Cape Verde (same score line). France scraped past Paraguay.

Last 40 mins - 10 men.

Your assessment is nonsense.
I thought that would be the key factor in Mexico's favour. They gave it their all to overcome that disadvantage.

I view of recent events, the England red card Should be resined.

Yes It was a red card but he didn't mean it and he's a nice guy and a top athlete. It must have been upsetting for the player to be sent off. How unfair it was to deny him the next game.

Also the Mexican team was clearly calling for a red card, which makes their conduct questionable.

What an injustice...

Thanks to the President, who knows a lot about sport and was a great athlete himself for pointing this out. Hopefully he can call FIFA to help us too...

Make Football Great Again...

Shouldn't be possible, I'd like to know more about the body that decided this
Agree, Trump needs to stay out of it, but he's within his rights to 'try'. FIFA should have told him to F-Off and get the USSF to raise the appeal through the proper channels as should be their right, not the presidents.

Red Cards Suspensions(and yellow card suspensions) have always been part of the jeopardy of Tournament Football, and have only ever added to the drama of the tournament.

I'm kind of in support for suspended sentence for Red cards; afterall, a sending off in that game should be punishment enough - in most cases, but that's where the problem comes. "In most cases" how do you decide what those cases are? but so long as the same rule is applied fairly and without favour.

Which is it?

ok, worded badly
It's not an either/or ;
Trumps allowed to Ask the question, but FIFA's Response should be "go away, we'll only hear appeals submitted via the countries Football Association"

Surely everyone is unamimous that this absolutely stinks.

FIFA are responsible for this and should be removed as the governing body of world football.
A Presidential intervention in this matter is totally against the rules and therefore illegitimate.

Infantino has to go with immediate effect. The various football federations should demand it but half of them are also bent.

Is there a more odious little runt in football at the moment?

Ive always been of the opinion that Fifa should never have been given any power beyond organising . The FA should have sole governance of the laws of the game and its consequences .

Its the same as the R&A letting LIV golf change the rules of the Open , it just wouldn't happen 🤐

Im just seeing this World Cup as a big gauntlet to Uefa and the big European leagues and a massive commercial pitch for MLS to displace the Premier league as the top sports league in the world. Yanks are testing the water with their own domestic audience too.

So, the Trump intervention for USA firmly stamps on a European pretenders feet (Belgium) lo, shots have been fired. There is some quest for political capital behind what he has done. MLS is quite entertaining and fairly competitive too. In the next decade it could really threaten the predominance of the European super-clubs. Let's hope Don, Infantino et al end up with egg on their faces.
