World cup 2026

People going over the top with this England game.

The first half up to the hydration break was dull with England players diving with every little challenge.

Again we have conceded goals against a team which really isn't that good.
Why do you do that numbtymort if England won 10 nil you would find a reason to belittle it same as Palace , you are a very very sad and lonely old man

Yes the red card farce with Balogun just highlights the corruption. Many hoped things would change when Blatter went. How's the Who song go "in with the new boss, same as the old boss"
The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" is actually about the 1966 Paul McCartney "switcheroo"

On the surface this is correct. BUT, You really have to understand the difficulties and challenges they were facing; playing Mexico(who aren't a bad side), in their Fortress Azteca where 80% of Fans were Mexican, and with 'unusual' conditions, it was always going to play out this way.

I Think the game plan was very similar to The croatia game, with some tweaks to handle the conditions and extra hostility;
first 1/4 - get through the hostility unscathed, disrupt Mexicans👍
second 1/4 - get to half time unharmed, go into half time on the up (those 2 goals were immense. shame about the one conceeded) 👍
third 1/4 - shoot out the blocks and impose your own game - we were starting to do this then the Red card came, and turned the rest of the game into a back-to-the-wall and hit them on the break.

It was an excellent World Cup spectacle. Do I wish we'd controlled the game better? yes. but England are not a pass-pass-pass team, (and shouldn't be, leave that to spain). We took our opportunities, and attacked with purpose and intent when we could - which granted, wasn't very often..

We defended with pride, heart and were resolute against an onslaught. Every player stepped up to the plate, and was counted. you can't really ask for more in this situation?

I expect a different story vs Norway. 2 european teams in the Heat of Miami. It'll be a lot more even - Id expect closer to 50/50 possession. Both sides will get chances. They've got Haaland/Odegaard, we've got Kane/Bellingham. It could simply be down to which pair are better on the day.

Good Morning

Dont know what Tuchel was doing bringing on all those defenders and sitting deep for the last 20 , we may have had Roy in charge .
But we got away with it , just . Confidence will be sky high after that but Norway will present some different problems as in they have one of the best centre forwards in the world not one that's just re-signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers .

Overall though in the light of day ,well it was light when I turned in but you know what I mean , we march on into the final week of the World cup with a little more hope than we had at 2am this morning .

I might get the flags out
I know what you mean. The tactics seemed so negative at that point. Have never been one to go defensive, it just invites pressure. Shows what I know! Dan Burn with his height made a big difference and the whole defence we colossal. Pickford commanded his area so well and made so many crucial punched clearances.

Have been listening to Talksport in the build up and with all the altitude chat and Mexico's record of 2 losses in 89 games at the Azteca, I had given us little hope of progressing. No way was Harry Kane's foul a 'clear and obvious error' - it should never have been a penalty. I felt Quansah's red was also harsh - his studs only came up after bouncing off the top the ball. We had a lot going against us but dug in and deserved it. That will give us huge confidence going forward.

Southgate created a great environment for the players, but for me he was tactically poor and was found wanting against a strong opponent. Tuchel brings a steeliness and know how. We'll be favourites to beat Norway. We have a good chance of going all the way.

That's was the most gripping England match I have ever seen. Fantastic stuff.

I was expecting the altitude to be a much bigger factor - maybe the players are fitter or better prepared but extra time might still have been too much for them, especially with 10 men.

I'm not finding Tuchel's original selection or game plan that good. Largely, it could be easily argued that England are Bellingham and Kane. However, Tuchel is so much better at reacting and making the right changes than Southgate was. I'll never forgive Southgate for the ridiculous changes in the Italy final. Which was quite easily winnable if England had continued to attack. Even then, substitutions to take penalties has barely ever worked and certainly didn't.

Tuchel wasn't bothered about penalties or he'd have left Kane on.

The Azteca.

Mexico top 10 ranked team.

Home advantage.

Fully acclimatized.

Have not left their home base.

4 straight wins. No goals conceded.

Comparisons: Argentina scraped past Cape Verde (same score line). France scraped past Paraguay.

Last 40 mins - 10 men.

Your assessment is nonsense.
