Wolves vs Palace.....Match Thread

Given our injury situation that was a good point and we played some good football in parts. The team are playing with less fear and it's just a shame more chances didn't fall to JP as at the moment he is the one forward of ours who seems to have the composure to put the ball in the net. Anyone who has seen Wolves this season will have seen how good they are at stretching teams on the break, but OG decided to be brave and with a bit more luck with the ref it would have paid dividends. Most managers would probably have parked the bus so fair play for providing some bravery and entertainment. Fulham up next and with Hughes suspended I presume we'll have Remi Matthews and Matt Turner in midfield?

A game of many chances and not just for us - think Henderson's great saves. However, it was disappointing not to put that game to bed well before they scored their first. However, taking the week as a whole, it seems that we are turning the corner and credit to the players for what must have been a tough week given our injury situation. I expect us to be higher in the table come Christmas than we currently are.

On a negative note, I'm beginning to wonder what Nketiah's qualities are. Last night, he lost the ball in so many promising situations either by trying to do too much or through failing to get the simplest of passes right. He seems to be becoming more and more desperate to prove himself and in so doing is becoming more and more of a liability. How much longer do we give him before having to accept that he isn't good enough for this league.

Nketiah’s effort and attitude are great. He tries hard and you can see he really wants to do well. Sadly it is difficult to see what he is actually good at as a forward. Doesn’t hold it up, doesn’t link play, passing is poor, isn’t a physical presence, movement isn’t special and finishing is poor. This is a player who didn’t do especially well in the Championship on loan. He would have been fine as buy to be a squad player but paying £30m for a player with his record was silly. Hopefully he starts contributing or it will go down as one of our worst transfers.

still cant believe we didnt win that , we had enough good chances to win 3 let alone 1 , Sarr everytime he went to shoot he was looking for airplanes , head over the ball simple , he not got his head once over the ball , Nkehiat was lost out there so many good runs , but that was it no end product , get ravi back , Kamada why did he take that off Mitchells foot , if he had done that to Matty think some words would have been said , just hope we can find away to get it to matty them 3 are not goal scores , but been a good week for palace , Tuff call on the goal , keepers momentum was the main reason he lost the ball and with pressure from munoz for me its a goal just

Can’t believe im saying this but perhaps we should be starting Schlupp in place of Nketiah next Saturday against Fulham. I’m more confident he will support Mitchell as well as take chances in front of goal better than Nketiah. Hughes getting that stupid booking before going off may screw us in the middle two as Decoure looked rusty and we will need to play Kamada alongside him :-( Perhaps Schlupp will bolster the support for them two as well which Nketiah doesn’t do? As for Sarr missing chances at least we didn’t pay 30 million for him as we did Nketiah. Would have taken a draw before the match but we should have won it and shut up shop rather than leaving our back 3 defending alone most of the match with the others going gun ho attacking throughout

Having watched the highlights this morning reminded me of the missed chances. You can’t blame Chalobah for being in the way, but Sarr- come on, he should at least have hit the target.
For me the answer is simple- tell JPM to get in that box and get the ball into him, or put balls through in the ground for him to get after. He is a monster and we need to play to his strengths.
I agree with what people are saying about Nketiah, and we’re saying before we signed him. Arsenal have been trying to offload him for years to some mug and they finally did so.

Game time + confidence. Never got that with the arse.

He will come good come New Year. Dougie has an eye for em.

Olise out for 55m , Nketiah in for 30m..................

a disasterous way to earn 25m , it is costing us a ton of points in the table. Arsenal cast-offs are always disappointing. Chelsea imports have been much better.

The tv pundits in Ireland are marvelling at what a bargain Bayern got.

I readily admit that when I was acquainted with the transfer fee for Nketiah my eyes rolled akin to the dials of a Las Vegas one-armed bandit.

A very odd comment , I think tv pundits around the world are marvelling at what a bargain he was .

It is telling when your forward line is unable to score and two defenders put in the net. There is a distinct lack of cohesiveness in the front line and even the supply from the midfield seemed quite random with Wharton missing. If I were Glasner, I would drum it into Sarr and Nketiah that their primary job is to get the ball to JP, not try to be individual heroes - that can come when we are 3 up! JP was a monster yesterday, very hard to handle with his strength and determination, but the other two are being selfish or self absorbed and not playing to the big picture.

A good point yesterday given the injuries - yes we missed chances but Hendo pulled off some great saves too. And a pleasure to see another side who are as abysmal at defending corners as we used to be.

After a good nights sleep, this game has moved into the positive thoughts category!

LaCroix is now starting to distribute those long balls to the wings, has gained that yard of pace and strong in the air! Defence and goalkeeper look solid, although Mitchell is still a concern!

Depleted midfield was competitive and created chances! Kamada getting slowly better and we know the first choice equalities of Wharton and Docourre.

Upfront JP clearly the best 9. Eze looked better from the Spurs game and Sarr the best option for the MO position with solid effort.

Nketiah needs to warm the bench with the youngsters and take his chances when he gets them.

Overall 2 wins and a draw in 7 days makes life a lot better!

LaCroix is looking better all the time. Maybe OG is a better judge of defenders than midfielders. So far anyway.

How we miss Wharton. When he and Eze are back, both Nketia and Kamada should be pine riders. They have both done better coming off the bench than starting games.
Sarr needs to calm down and get his head over the ball when he shoots. He has got a lot of potential, just needs adjustments up top. Way too nervy at present. If they can coach him right, he could be a top player. He's got so much pace its scary.
