Wolves vs Palace.....Match Thread

Wolves saved by VAR for a change, it would be against us, how is that a foul.

Feel a bit robbed to be fair, we enough chances to have won the game comfortably.

Going strong at the end - 3rd game in a week.

Trev gets my vote despite preventing a Palace goal inadvertently.

Had SP taken the phone off the hook in the summer we would probably be half-way up the table, 'never change a winning team'.

👍

Overall a good performance but our finishing is just so frustrating again, we really should have put them to bed.

Chalobah and Lacroix are excellent signings.

Kamada I think is showing the green shoots of becoming decent after the last few days.

Sarr is limited but also didn't cost loads, if he get a goal he might suddenly bag a few. At least he's quick and direct.

The one I'm genuinely concerned about is Nketiah. To be honest I never wanted him, his scoring record has always been average. I do not understand why we paid so much money for him and I think he makes the team worse when he plays.

Maybe finally scoring a goal could help him but, as it stands, I think he's bang average and doesn't feature in our first choice XI.

Sarr should’ve scored and his misses cost us a 2-0 lead and the victory that would have followed.

Nketiah, after a very promising first game, was awful today. Way off the pace and gave the ball away inexcusably for the Wolves equaliser, which got them back in the game just when the home crowd had turned against their team.

Mitchell again couldn’t deliver a single decent cross all game and was AWOL on so many occasions when Wolves attacked down our left. The second goal for Wolves being a classic example where he just jogged back when we lost possession and Guedes received the ball unmarked and unchallenged and just crossed for Gomes to score.

The disallowed goal from Mateta I feel was incorrectly ruled out. Sá appeared to lose control of the ball of his own accord. He didn’t have the ball in his grasp and his body slid away from the ball and it rolled to JPM. This wasn’t due to the contact with Munoz as that had passed and from watching numerous replays and slow mo’s, Sá just let it slip from his grasp. The referee was wrong to disallow it but I understand why VAR didn’t overrule it, as it couldn’t be classed as ‘Clear & Obvious’.

Respect the point is so often said but I can’t help but feel we should’ve had all three.

Dawson deliberate handball as last man, to stop Sarr going through on goal, right in front of the ref, totally ignored. The ref saved them again with Mateta last minute goal, Sa didnt have control and spilled the ball.

Next 5 games: Fulham, Villa, Newcastle, Ipswich and Man City. Not easy games. Good that Doucoure is back he has been a huge miss. Wharton will be a huge miss. Lets hope Eze is back soon.

Nketiah gives us something different to JP. He’s no good at holding the ball up or bullying centre backs but likes a ball played in behind. He should be used as an alternative to JP when we need a change. Having said that he had one Nketiah type situation today and made a hash of playing Sarr in when the Nketiah of Arsenal would have run through himself. Definitely lacking confidence.

I've given up saying that I think he's not fit for purpose. The difference in output between him on the left and Munoz on the right is astronomical.

He's simply not suited to a wing back system. It's the single biggest weakness in our squad.

Second game I've seen this year including Everton.

Back line growing in confidence and Guehi a class act.

Kamada in my opinion has made too many mistakes. I'm trying not to be negative but I cannot credit him for anything in the match.

Nketiah is NOT a winger; feel for him being played out of position.

We desperately need natural wingers like we used to have in Wilf, Bolasie, Townsend, Olise.

Would like to have seen Agbinone given a chance.

Overall happy with the point given the injuries.

We were totally robbed by the ref. What a shocking decision blowing his whistle when Munoz got fouled. He should have waited and then blown when Matets scored. In the circumstances, worst case it should have been a penalty. Two big points lost. Im sure the ref knew he had completely f***ed up. So easy for them to slip up.

Chalobah was excellent today. He’s played well every game. Good signing.

Just shows if a player puts in consistently good performances and gives his all for the shirt we can accept the occasional mistake, Chalobah has made two errors that have lead to goals since his debut, but I like him…..also that was an excellent finish today, he made it look easy, which it certainly wasn’t

I don't understand why we always panic just because we concede a goal. It's not the first time this season, just like when playing Everton. Until the first goal for Wolverhampton, they were completely harmless.

I think it’s just a switch in momentum which when you’re away from home with the home crowd roaring their team on it is tough, I suppose that’s when you find out who your leaders are and what your team are really made of

He was better than he has been but didn't do anything one of the youngsters couldn't have done. I really don't like to criticise him because I don't like slagging off our players or OG's choices and selection.
But there again you don't really have any idea what'one of the youngsters' could or couldn't have done; making unfounded assumptions seems an odd way to avoid slagging off a player who actually had quite a decent game overall today if you don't like doing it.

Let’s get the mitigation in first….it’s the third game in 6 days, we have injuries to key players, we have players still settling in…..

Nonetheless, my overall feeling is one of disappointment.
Despite playing some nice football , Wolves are one of the poorer teams.
They still mustered 6 shots on target as they sliced through the gaps in our midfield.
Our back 3 are good players, but it’s difficult for them when the opposition have so much space in front of them.
I say this even though I felt Hughes and Kamada had decent games today.
They were busy, always available to receive the ball and tried to initiate moves.
It’s just that when the opposition beat their press, as was the case on a number of occasions , our defence is left very exposed with players running at them.

The other concern is we had to rely on central defenders for our goals.
It’s usually a bonus if your central defenders chip in with a few goals, but that’s when it’s an addition to goals from the forwards rather than instead of them.
I’m not going to be too critical of Sarr as throughout his career he has never been a calm or reliable finisher . I don’t see that changing at Palace.
Nketiah will hopefully improve, but is currently struggling.
To have to replace forwards Sarr and Nketiah with subs of Clyne and Schlupp is not a healthy sign for our club.
We need to add more attacking options in January and can’t just keep waiting for Franca to get fit.
We didn’t add a right back for years waiting for Ferguson to get fit and we saw how that worked out.
