Time to start doing Business Steve..!!

It might not make a difference to you, but the Europa has credibility. It is a route to the Champion's League for a start.
It will also make a difference to how much money we have to spend.
No

There is no difference if in Conf or Europa when it comes to players they want Champions League.

Correct it is a route but that doesn't matter to the players.

It makes 0 difference money wise this has been verified many times by experts and you only see difference if you win it even then it's around 10-15m at the most.

So it does make a difference.

Assuming you can't read minds. How do you know what players think?

Most players we would be signing would not be expecting Champions League. If they were, we couldn't afford them.
Surely, they might be attracted to a club in the Europa League over one in the Conference or not in Europe.

Being a mid table team in the richest league in the world is enough, there's no way a player is picking PAOK or Besiktas over us because they get in the europa every year.

Those are specific examples of clubs in crappy leagues. We are in competition with teams in France, Germany, Italy, Spain.

Like the new stand, getting kicked out of the europa, any failure is obviously always someone else's fault.
You’re over simplifying again and trying to pin everything on Parish and the board. Whilst they have an important part to play in the above they are things outside their control. Not sure why you want to focus on blame

The potential problem with transfers is that if we are reinstated to the Europa League, we might well attract a better quality of player and be more likely to retain our stars.

Because of that, it might be foolish to spend our money before the CAS hearing, even if it is not ideal preparation for Glasner.
Most of our current squad will be at the same lever of fitness, unlike last pre season which was a mess, so we might avoid a slow start either way.

Would we expect to beat Chelsea under any circumstances? Nope.
First game of season so you never know if teams turn up plus Chelsea short pre-season gives us a fighting chance if we can play team finished last season

Will our revenue base be much higher with both European football assuming in league phase or beyond and I believe the new tv deal kicks in

And you're thinking of specific clubs that can offer similar to what we can in wages, which is all most professionals care about, unless you're playing for one of the big clubs. If a saudi club comes in, 90% of professionals really won't care about European football or playing in a top European league.

We won't be competing for players who want huge wages. We don't pay them.

We will be competing for players with clubs of a similar status, some of whom might pay a bit more.
It is the fine margins that could matter, like being in a proper European competition as opposed to not.

Wages are important, of course, but they are not everything. Sometimes it's about playing time. Sometimes it's about being in London. Sometimes it's about adding a European competition to your CV.

I was listening to Talkshite on the way back home about half an hour ago and the crap they come out with is so condescending towards any team that isn’t one of the big teams that they love.

Apparently they think Arsenal will be able to negotiate a better deal with Palace for Eze because they are Arsenal. They think Mateta will be off to some foreign team I can’t remember the name of, Guehi will be off to Liverpool, Wharton off to Citeh and he fears for our survival but thinks there might be 3 worse teams.

Honestly, it’s absolutely disgraceful. He had no knowledge whatsoever of whether anything he was saying was true but spouted it like it was probably going to happen without even considering whether we might actually be acquiring players.

I’m totally fed up with this kind of crap continually being spouted.

It’s aural clickbait.

If they all spoke well informed common sense nobody would listen

I think this rubbish that they are spouting and don’t believe for one minute that we will selling four key players.

However, I do wonder if resources are being stretched in terms of transfer dealings.
Freedman has gone and has not been replaced and I don’t think senior executive Phil Alexander (who was involved in transfer administration ) has been replaced either.

I heard that Parish is acting almost as Director of Football at present and that it was him who called in Dean Kiely in to break the news that club wanted to go in a different direction in the area of goalkeeper coaching ( perhaps Steve is taking on that role too)!

Parish has obviously been busy in recent weeks with the Europa league business, attending meetings and briefings to construct the appeal.

I’m speculating, perhaps erroneously, but it may be that the club has taken it’s eye off the ball in terms of our transfer dealings and are further behind in our dealings that we wanted to be.
I know other on here disagree as Freedman’s staff are still in situ, but in my view Freedman’s departure leaves a big gap.
Leaving aside his actual role, he worked very closely in tandem with Parish and Parish no longer has that foil to rely upon.

There's plenty of variables but ultimately it comes down to money, plus the pull of the prem usually trumps most others, look at Xhaka, his just left leverkusen for Sunderland and it's not like they wanted to sell him.

The BBC report says a few things i didnt know, if true, Ben Stevens, Dougies number 2, is the man, along with Moody on recruitment, Benitez and Diomande were Freedman picks, also Eze's release clause finishes on August 18th, also on Transfermkt it says we have rejected a 35m bid for Mateta from Atalanta

Somebody yesterday quoted a journalist named Bobby Manzi regarding Palace's transfer plans in terms of which areas they wanted to strengthen.

He didn't mention this, also from Manzi ;

''Uncertainty over which European competition they will be in though has ‘complicating planning’ when it comes to signings, both due to the budget available and which players they can attract.
Already Genoa defender Koni De Winter stalled a move to Crystal Palace due to the European issue.''
