The January 2025 Window

I've just seen Agbinone has gone on loan to Gillingham.
He has been in our matchday squad on a number of occasions this season.

I'm putting 2 and 2 together and taking this as an indication that we'll imminently be announcing the signing of a forward, most likely Esse.

I live in Kent so now I want to go see a Gillingham game, as it would be good to see one of our brightest prospects playing senior football.

Just hope he doesn't go down the Malcolm Ebiowei route.

I think he will be ok compared to Ebiowei. A little surprised he has gone on loan given he was in and around the first team squad. In the very brief game time he’s had he has looked promising. As others have said I hope this means there is a new forward player incoming. Hopefully game time at Gillingham helps him develop. Let us know how he does if you get to see him live.

I cant help feeling we will have a pretty upset manager if no deals are done. We had 2 managers leave when they were doing well apparently for a lack of resource and/or success on transfers. The pressure on Dougie is generally high this time of year, but this January Glasner going public may have racked it up even higher.
A strange take on a simple statement of the truth, transfers take time. He wanted LaCroix, Kamada and Riad all were signed in the summer. Managers that moan about lack of resources, which they knew when they signed is a sign of weakness and lack of ability to work with whats available.

There's a world of difference between not backing a manager with money and not being able to get the required players over the line.

We backed Glasner with money in the Summer and appear to be ready and willing to do so in this window. Glasner seemed pretty relaxed about getting our two targets over the line, so why should he get upset.

Doak would’ve been fantastic but I agree with not being held to ransom. I also think there are other important factors to consider. Would Doak be happy to leave Liverpool and play for us when his heart is probably set on staying and getting into their first team? There is also the geographical relocation and unsettlement. With Esse he is a local South London lad, moving up a division to a bigger team and no doubt increasing his wages considerably.

Fair point. Doak is from a small town in Ayrshire about 30 minutes from Glasgow, a city he would have known well and not dissimilar to Liverpool. Moving to London is a huge change for a young lad. He could do a Kenny Dalglish in Liverpool but a Charlie Nicholas in London.

I presume when Glasner said he wanted players in quickly he meant to drive them in a sports car at midnight on transfer deadline day.
I think his exact words were early in the transfer window , he just forgot to mention which window he was talking about .
