Does anyone else think Guehi will sign a new contract and stay at Palace?

He is a decent guy, if he is looking to leave I just can't see him being the type to bend us over to do it. I guess it will depend on how much we offer on his new contract and if he thinks we are going places. Lets face it we haven't stopped him getting picked regular for England. However he is a rolls Royce of a defender and one that deserves to look back on a career full of medals and trophies which sadly he is unlikely to ever get with us. I think this would be why he leaves not just a pound note.

Maybe. Make him top earner, club captain and give him a 5 year contract with £90m buy out clause. He’s a religious man who appears happy where he is and his England prospects as a player have never suffered as a result of playing for us.
With the best will in the world I’m not really sure what being a religious person has to do with his choice of club. It’s not like we are somehow a more religious club than any other. Also it’s not like other very religious players haven’t moved club before. Alisson is well known as a devout Christian who has even baptised teammates. Didn’t stop him moving to Liverpool.

Oh come on... you know the Lord shines a little more brightly on Crystal Palace FC.

I have it on good faith that should his son indeed rise again... he will be found wearing black and bouncing about behind the goal in the Holmsdale.

Praise Be my friend. Praise Be.

Why would Guehi want to join a team below us in the table anyway?
Well exactly.

He didn't seem bothered about going to Newcastle in the summer, or he'd have asked for a transfer.

I really think he'll only move if the club offering is a club that he'd like to play for. And he's seen Olisé make a spectacular move, that must influence his decisions too.

Isn’t he already playing for the Arses?

You never heard of the meek and mild? It’s a state of mind and not all people have the burning desire to be ambitious for trophies, they are simply happy with their lot.

You appear to be more interested in picking holes in peoples posts than what Palace are up to. Not sure why.

I was just asking why you thought being religious mattered given it hasn’t mattered to other very religious players. Not trying to ‘pick holes’ just engaging in discussion

He'll go in the summer and I'd be amazed if it isn't to a Champions League club. There will be 5 of them in England - likely Liverpool, Arsenal, and 3 from Forest, Newcastle, City, Chelsea, Bournemouth.

Bournemouth, Forest, Arsenal are maybe the only ones you'd be surprised to see spend £50m plus on a CB in the summer.

He then walks into all the other teams including United, Spurs, Villa but they can't offer him a high enough level next year.

I expect he'll be starting next season alongside Van Dijk.

Would we want to buy a 34 year old?
Seriously, that makes sense then he could match up with a taller player, like Quansah, when van Dijk leaves
It wouldn't surprise me if Liverpool come after Mateta as well if they can get silly money for Nunez and Salah leaves. If he keeps his current form up, Arsenal and United(if they can afford him) are also likely to be in the bidding. Liverpool are likely to find it a tougher season next year with Rodri back and Man City rejuvenated

Schlupp to Celtic on loan just announced as a possibility.

Den Tyler will be pleased to hear that Paul Merson thinks Mateta should go to Man Utd. We obviously don’t need a team because he’s tried to get rid of most of ours. Total bellend.
Den Tyler definitely is not pleased to hear that the bellend Merson is at it again. What is it with him. I’m surprised he hasn’t sold Wharton to City and Lacroix to Arsenal. Numpty of the highest order.

3 hours to go. Looks like our deadline day action is 1 loan in , Chilwell, and 2 out, Schlupp and Holding. No more centre back rumours so looking like that’s dead in the water unfortunately. Still overall we filled the 2 gaps in the squad we had at the start of the window.

Nothing much happening of interest to CPFC supporters. Seems that bedtime has come; hopefully to wake to news.

Will Tottenham ever publish their two price lists - for players offered for sale, and those they wish to buy?

If it's just Chilwell and Esse I'll be disappointed.

Glasner said we wanted 2 at the beginning of the window and since then we've lost Chaloboah and Riad.

We're also potentially going to lose Schlupp and ,although he's past his best, he's been an ever present in the squad and made a number of substitute appearances this season.

It smacks of just making do rather than making a concerted effort to strengthen. It would also be a missed opportunity to bed in a centre back this season ahead of Guehi's seemingly inevitable summer departure.
On the assumption that we continue to play 3 at the back I can't see the current 3 centre backs being ever present for the remainder of the season.
This would mean Lerma or Clyne filling in again.
Like I said, just making do.
