Sentences too harsh!

"The attacker is described as slim, between 5ft 8 and 5ft 10ins tall, and had light grey hair and a moustache."

"He was also said to be wearing a black puffer jacket, black trousers, and black trainers or boots."

Everything but the color of his skin 🤷🏻‍♂️
Maybe he was black as the silence on his skin colour is like shouting! I reckon if he was white we would know.

Sentenced to life imprisonment, well at least 10years and 8 months. Possibly Less than 11 years for this despicable crime. Why is that? How about immediate deportation? Oh no, human rights

Having noted that HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales are in port (Portsmouth) for Christmas, I wonder if there is a case for the re-introduction of selected criminals serving their time on a prison ship. Being in the presence of 800 people who recognise his need for being helped to understand that his actions were vile would focus his mind - and the minds of similar people.

Remember the building sector has a skills shortage
"The UK does not have enough construction workers to build the 1.5 million homes the government has promised, industry leaders have warned.
Tens of thousands of new recruits are needed for bricklaying, groundworks and carpentry to get anywhere near the target, they told the BBC."

Where are all these boat-loads of Polish and East European builders and tradesmen that were coming over ?
Where are all the fruit pickers the farmers are going to need come harvest time ?
How come the UK just seems to be getting benefit scroungers and criminals landing on our shores ?

In the meantime, the Government is seeding the media with stories about how traumatised the police were during the civil unrest.
"
"It's like being in a warzone – but you've just got a shield and stick," chief inspector Zoe Kelsey said.
She was one of the officers at the centre of the Middlesbrough riot which was sparked after three girls died in a knife attack in Southport earlier this year.
Her team faced barrages of bricks, protesters tried to set them on fire and one officer suffered a heart attack." (BBC website)

Here's some thoughts. Maybe the Tories shouldn't have cut police numbers. Maybe the police well-being systems at work aren't up to the job.
And how about the police actually doing some work, rather than sitting in their vans on a Sunday morning (on overtime), drinking tea and catching speeding motorists on upwards of £25k a year.
I'm sounding harsh, but that's why the police pay is good. It can sometimes be a tough job.

Bleating to the newspapers might sound to some like they've got a good amount of sick leave out of the riots, no doubt on full pay, whilst giving a a tiny bit of credibility to the harshness of sentences for 'rioters'

The BBC wont leave this story alone (riots) . It seems like every week we get another rehash of how terrible it was .

If only he was a far right “thug” who said naughty words! There is something wrong with the judiciary attitude towards crimes against children ( and women).

The judge who gave custody of Saria Sharif to her father, despite warnings of abuse should, imo, be named shamed struck off and charged with manslaughter. The suffering of that poor girl should be on his conscience 24/7

You can set your watch by this. This weeks Southport story from the BBC

Coming next week. Christmas for the victims of the Southport riots.

Followed the next week by a year in review "What happened during the Southport riots. Plus a special edition Stephen Lawrence, "We haven't done a story about him for a while".

As far as I'm aware, the judge will have to be named. The previous similar case (possibly baby p) included a ruling that it was in the public interest for that judge to be named. Hence this barring order is extraordinary and not in line with previous judgements.
Currently, a couple of media companies are appealing the judge's decision not to name the other judge/judges (I believe there can be more than one judge in Family Court hearings of a certain type). The Guardian has a piece on this I think.

Yes I heard this and it is very bizarre that this judge is not being named. I understand the same judge had presided over more than one hearing regarding this poor girl. I have my own theory as to why the judge is not being named but probably should keep it to myself.
Funny how the Police Officer in Kaba case was named isn’t it!

I had a similar feeling to you and looked up Surrey court services, but it seems my suspicions were incorrect from what I could gather.

Meanwhile, way off the headlines and in the small print paragraphs,,,,,"
Southport stabbing suspect Axel Rudakubana, 18, has denied murdering three young girls - Elsie Dot Stancombe, Alice da Silva Aguiar and Bebe King - in the attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.
Mr Rudakubana appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via a video link but refused to speak when asked to confirm his name and enter his pleas, so the judge Mr Justice Goose entered them on his behalf.
In the same way, Mr Rudakubana also pleaded not guilty to attempting to murder 10 other people, including eight children, on 29 July." (BBC website)

However, it is one of the most read items.

What public interest is served by naming any judge in any case? Surely they need to do their job without being concerned about the court of public opinion or the ability of the tabloids to spin stories. The quality of their work needs to be objectively assessed by experts out of sight. Experts who themselves are responsible to Parliament.

Public interest and the public being interested are not identical.

Do you think it was in the public interest to name the Police Officer in the Kaba case, prior to his trial? Why was that in the public interest? He now has a price on his head

The 2 Muslim Manchester attackers have both been charged for ABH and one for assault. It’s only taken about 6 months. Muhammad and Mohammed. It’s always Muhammad or Mohammed. Do peaceful.

Its about time

Shall we have a discussion on the sentences? Hurty words, throwing missiles, being abusive = up to 3 years imprisonment. These charges must result in, at least 5 years for the first one and 2 for second
