Remember the building sector has a skills shortage
Builders and developers say reforms are needed to recruit more tradespeople to build the homes being promised.

"
The UK does not have enough construction workers to build the 1.5 million homes the government has promised, industry leaders have warned.
Tens of thousands of new recruits are needed for bricklaying, groundworks and carpentry to get anywhere near the target, they told the BBC."
Where are all these boat-loads of Polish and East European builders and tradesmen that were coming over ?
Where are all the fruit pickers the farmers are going to need come harvest time ?
How come the UK just seems to be getting benefit scroungers and criminals landing on our shores ?
In the meantime, the Government is seeding the media with stories about how traumatised the police were during the civil unrest.
Front-line police feared an officer could have been killed after a peaceful protest quickly turned violent.

"
"It's like being in a warzone – but you've just got a shield and stick," chief inspector Zoe Kelsey said.
She was one of the officers at the centre of the Middlesbrough riot which was sparked after three
girls died in a knife attack in Southport earlier this year.
Her team faced barrages of bricks, protesters tried to set them on fire and one officer suffered a heart attack." (BBC website)
Here's some thoughts. Maybe the Tories shouldn't have cut police numbers. Maybe the police well-being systems at work aren't up to the job.
And how about the police actually doing some work, rather than sitting in their vans on a Sunday morning (on overtime), drinking tea and catching speeding motorists on upwards of £25k a year.
I'm sounding harsh, but that's why the police pay is good. It can sometimes be a tough job.
Bleating to the newspapers might sound to some like they've got a good amount of sick leave out of the riots, no doubt on full pay, whilst giving a a tiny bit of credibility to the harshness of sentences for 'rioters'
