Glasner Out

There are a lot of reasons OG would do well there.

However, he's a low possession, counterattacking tactician. Thats fine for plucky underdogs, but won't work for a club aiming to return to the very top.
I agree. The one thing OG struggles with is against teams that dont want or expect much of the ball. He doesn't know how to dominate possession and break teams down.
Thats fine for us as we generally play in the Prem against teams that want the ball (City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Villa), and can give them a real game with our strongest team. We actually look less dangerous against teams that are happy to surrender possession (Chelsea, Brentford, Newcastle, Everton)
This would be deemed unacceptable at United. They want attacking football but not at the expense of 30% possession!
I honestly dont think United is in any way a good fit for Glasner if you look at it sensibly instead of just lazily saying United play a similar formation. So what? So do a lot of teams.

The recent goals conceded have been because the opposition players have had too much time to either pick out a pass or shoot. Just 2 examples of that ( Harlands first goal came from a cross where we didn’t press) Fulham goal came from too much time on the edge of the box for Cairney to place the ball in the corner and again no Palace player near him.
Please understand I don’t want the formation to change when we have the players available to be effective, I.e Munoz energy to get up and down, it’s just about game management!!

All I’m suggesting is that LATER in the game when we are under the cosh we pack out the defence and midfield. The wingbacks get caught up the pitch, so the covering centre back fills that space and can’t get back so the 2 holding midfielders and the remaining 2 centre backs get over run. We all knew that we would concede in the end to Fulham and I believe OG even eluded to that in his press conference!
Game management I agree he could have done better in the Fulham game

My thoughts are that Ollie’s halo has well and truly slipped. I agree we should have done business better in the summer and can understand why Ollie had the hump.

However if he were to go now, well that would show a lack of class that I didn’t think was Ollie. He has not set the world alight with his tactical knowledge while we had our injury and afcon nightmare Xmas period. in fact as others have said we have basically shown relegation form and that is on the manager. He has to work with what he has and make it work. I knew we would be bad during this period but nobody could have seen such a fall from grace. We didn’t so much drop in the league as plummet.

He owes it to us to get us back firing and winning or his legacy’s could be in trouble. He gave us the greatest day in our history but may now seems a long time ago.

By the way… I want him to stay and sign a new deal but he does have to stop moaning about our lack of transfer because that’s just who we are.

I don't think he'll go and think he'll sign a new deal.

Firstly, according to The Athletic, half the reason Amorim was sacked was because he refused to diverge away from the 3-5-2 even though it clearly wasn't working. Why would they then go and replace him with another manager playing the same system?

He won't go to Liverpool, City or Arsenal in the summer. Chelsea are appointing Rosenior. Spurs will surely have reservations about appointing another manager from mid-table after Frank has failed to step up.

I don't see it with any of those clubs and who else is there, Newcastle? Move abroad?

I think that spending £33m right at the start of January is unlike Palace, especially if the manager was leaving. I reckon he signs a new two year deal. And look forward to this being quoted gloatingly when he resigns in 4 days to take the United job.

Whatever happens with OG we will still be Palace. We have seen managers come and go, some last mere games and others many years.
Maybe his halo has slipped recently, but we will always have the FA cup and Charity Shield and for those special times I/We will be forever grateful and wish OG all the best whatever he decides.
For what it’s worth I do not think OG will go before the end of the season as I believe him to have integrity, no matter who comes calling. I’m just not sure about next season, but would be delighted if he extended his contract.

Those on HOL might recall that prior to the Strasbourg game I was commenting positively about Rosenior and suggested that he would be a capable replacement for Glasner.

I want him to stay too but agree he’s made as many mistakes as Parish this season. By his own admission it’s been a steep learning curve for him. I hope he stays for at least another season and improves on this one. To be fair he only brought up the lack of summer signings twice. The first was a reasonable answer to an Austrian journalist and the second was made in anger post defeat, but nonetheless it has left a cloud hanging over him that will persist until he signs or goes and that is a shame after all he has achieved.

My sentiments, surprised I'm the only like on your post
