Glasner Out

OG is too honest to last in the job anyway. It's one thing to give an opinion on the Palace set-up but any criticism of the Mancs hierarchy wouldn't be accepted for long.
There is some thought that Amorim used this to his advantage and got out of there with a massive pay out.

I think everyone expected this period to be tough. Losing key players was always going to make things hard. Anyone expecting us to get north of ten points from the last five games had unrealistic expectations. However, I don’t think one point from fifteen was on the radar either. I don’t think it was unreasonable to expect better than what we’ve had. Somewhere around 6 or 7 points.

I also don’t think OG can be entirely absolved of blame. We all looked at this period and knew it would be tough with lots of games. That’s why plenty of people recommended squad rotation in Europe (not like we ripped it up with the first team). Also you might have thought there would have been a plan B developed from the start of the season
I think we might be suffering from SED (success entitlement disorder) every season all teams go through dips in form and Palace have a long history of this. This current dip in form is being exacerbated by injuries/afcon and errors by OG and the board which have all been covered at some length.
This season our dip has come in the middle of the season, whereas in the past it has been at the start or at the back end of the season. I just wonder if this particular dip feels worse due to our recent success and expectations?

Agree with you and especially your last sentence. I do think most of us feel that Glasner should have used rotation a bit more and that substitutions have been far too late in games. If earlier we may still have lost these matches but at least those substituted would have had more rest time for the next match. Wasn’t expecting just one point in this dip in form though otherwise I would be more acceptable of this dip?

I definitely expected a dip in form. Looking at fixture congestion and squad depth it was inevitable. But one point from fifteen isn’t just a dip, it’s awful form, currently the worst in the division. As I’ve said elsewhere when OG has us playing well it’s as good as I’ve ever seen Palace play but when it doesn’t work we don’t seem to have much ability to get ugly results. I’ll definitely take it for the brilliant spells and silverware. Just would love to see a little bit more during the difficult spells. Not lots of wins but some hard fought draws maybe and a goal or two.

I was also anticipating a reversal in our fortunes, however I did not envisage such a cresta run of a football descent.
We have plummeted faster than an extremely portly person on a bungee jump.

We're talking 5 league games, which included one of the hardest away days in the division and playing the league's form team in City. Leeds away and Spurs at home were the only really poor results IMO.

Prior to those 5 games, we won 2 away games in a week.

I too expected a dip in form but what has happened is much worse than I anticipated. What it has illustrated, to me at least, is that there are no real leaders out on the pitch for when things get rough.

Seared in my consciousness is the fact we have only attained 1 pt out of a possible 15 in our last 5 PL games, only scoring 2 goals in those matches, and have plummeted from 4th to 14th in the PL table.
Hopefully out of darkness cometh light.

And if you keep repeating that single fact without any context, further seared it shall become.

It doesn't change the reality that this is a very explainable and, so far very temporary, dip in form.

I was anticipating a degradation of results within the context of key players being unavailable, however one cannot dispute the facts of points attained in our last 5 matches.
I just hope that the dip is indeed 'Temporary' and not a prolonged further reversal of our fortunes.

OG,will be gone in the Summer to very likely,United, with their unlimited resources.

Why on earth would be want to stay with our inability to make adequate signings and lack of ambition, when one of the most famous clubs in the World come calling???

I disagree with this on a number of points. Cant be bothered to list them all but one laughable one is that they have 'unlimited resources' Manchester United are in financial trouble (despite their massive turnover) and currently have similar to spend in the market to Palace. And if you ask those that are fully involved in the game United are NOT a big draw right now.

I agree with you that this dip is explainable (and has been exhaustibly!) and I also believe we will suffer for a bit longer until the missing players return.
But we also have to remember we have gone on much worse/longer dips in form and yet been less exasperated by them.
Maybe we need to be less SED and more RAP (realistic about Palace) 🤣

Think The Daily Telegraph is a reliable source and OG,is clearly the favourite to take over in the Summer:

Nobody, not even Glasner himself (regardless of his intentions) knows who is the favourite least of all the bloody Telegraph!

Well he hasn't really tried anything but more of the same, and the points tally and league position in these trying times reflect his decisions, as well as the competency of the players available. Yes, we know it's difficult.
But tbf, despite half our team being out and all of our right hand side we have still been very much in the game. We had enough chances to have beaten Fulham. Ok we didn't creat much against Newcastle but neither did they. The only reason they got a second was because we started chasing the game.

I for one do not envisage Oliver Glasner being the next Man Utd manager.
Me neither. He may well leave in the summer. Of course he might but I dont think theres much chance of him going to United. For a start I'm not convinced he would look at that job and be attracted by it.
I'm not convinced he would be even near the top of United's short list either (despite what the know-nothing media try and tell everyone)

Very much agree.

Scoring in 2 out of 5 games was a decent run under Hodgson!
