Fulham vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Eddie's goal was marked by the absolutely brilliant passing and vision of Wharton.

Firstly, the cross-field ball out to the left, so emphatically yet coolly played with the outside of the left foot. Then to keep going forward, receive the ball again and deliver the killer ball into the box for the goal.. So, so talented, this lad.

Potentially world-class, in my opinion.

Elliot Anderson has earned the right to the starting position as the No 6 for England. He has played very well and taken the chance. But so many games if you need to progress in the World Cup. Wharton will be the player who comes out of the shadows to be the star.

Wharton’s corner just before our winner which lead to a shot from Pino was brilliant as well. The shot was deflected for another corner from which Guahi scored from. Wharton was back to he’s best today 🙂

Mitchell has improved dramatically since Pino arrived. He now has the confidence to attack knowing that if he is caught forward there is someone behind him who can tackle and hold up a counterattack. Eze and Zaha were not interested in that side of the game. He does need to practise his high crosses though.

Good at times, not at all great at others.

Eddie took his goal well, superb ball through by Wharton (although it was aimed at Daichi).

Fulham’s goal was superb, can’t do much about that.

JPM missed another two good chances and his touch & control was off again today.

Hendo, absolutely superb save yet again and overall a very good performance.

The back three were very solid but it is a concern we seem to be slow to react to shots coming back off the frame of the goal. Stood like statues again for the Smith-Rowe goal, thank f*ck that was offside.

I’m another one who thinks Kamada’s output and positioning is superb. He works with Glasners system and tactics so well. Yes he’s not strong enough in the tackle and yes, some of his passing goes astray but I totally get why Glasner starts him alongside Wharton as his first choice midfield pairing.

I thought the ref missed a lot and got a lot wrong but he also let a lot go…which I’m all for.

Fulham played well and a draw was probably a fair result but that superb delivery from Pino and the fantastic header from our outstanding Captain meant we edged it. Some go for you, some go against…that’s football.

Well done to the players, well done to our terrific supporters and well done Oliver Glasner. Give that man whatever he wants because we need him to stay.

To my mind in the circumstances (knackered team, 2 essential players missing) that was our best win of the season so far, and really unexpected from my view. I really thought we played well and don't agree that it was lucky. On balance as the away team I thought we deserved it, and played some really good, slick football. As others have said, Mitchell had a great game, and Wharton was the classiest midfielder on the pitch. But a shout out too to Kamada, who was excellent in my view. On a cautionary note surely no-one can continue to underestimate how much we will miss Guehi. Defensively Lacroix and Richards may be on a par, but his ability to step out of defence carrying the ball, play killer passes, and score quite regularly set him well above our other centre backs in my opinion. But great result and really creditable performance all round,

Uche did well. To find his full rhythm he needs more game time. Unfortunately Mateta is at that stage where he is trying too hard and it's not going for him; Uche could be brought on sooner to give Mateta a well earned rest.
Agreed. He had 2 half chances, both were difficult. His record doesn't show him as much of a goal scorer I would use him more as a battering ram.

We are quick on here to moan about referees but I thought he did us well yesterday.

True he missed one or two (Pino suffering a couple of robust challenges which were unpunished) but we got the 'rub of the green' generally. So compensation for his Eze error against Brentford last season.

Credit where it is due, eh Willo?

Yes, he looks a big strong lad. I edited my comment to note his role in the Guehi goal. he did enough to put off their keeper and I think he should get more playing time.

just thought if we hadnt let everton and manu beat us we would be right on arses arse , try saying that after a couple more wines lol , but its a very tight lge from 3rd downwards
Added to that, if we hadn’t let Brighton get a draw against us we would have an extra 2 points. These three fixtures were all on the Sunday after Conference league games. Obviously we will never know what would have happened had we not been in Europe, but I expect we would be higher up the league than we are now. I hope we end up with something to show for it!

This is a refreshing and admirable trait.
Jolly well done Sir. 👍 👍

I predicted a win against Larnaca and we all know the outcome of that match !
I give my honest prediction about matches, and do not predict defeats on the basis of superstition. I will not predict defeats just because my positive assertion was 'Off Beam'.
I think its fair to say, your knowledge of football isn't as good, as you think it is. I cannot remember any of your lauded predictions ever being correct.
