Fulham vs. Crystal Palace match thread

We are quick on here to moan about referees but I thought he did us well yesterday.

True he missed one or two (Pino suffering a couple of robust challenges which were unpunished) but we got the 'rub of the green' generally. So compensation for his Eze error against Brentford last season.

Credit where it is due, eh Willo?
True but it's a low bar with him. As the saying goes - when you're expecting a kick in the balls and you get a punch in the face it's a result.

I think its fair to say, your knowledge of football isn't as good, as you think it is. I cannot remember any of your lauded predictions ever being correct.
With the greatest of respect I am not an individual who seeks to be lauded or attempts to give the impression that I am a polymath in any shape or form.I am no omniscient sage.

Pretty even game but we got the rub of the green.

Two things of note for me, on the right Clyne doesn't really have the energy to be a wingback anymore none of us are getting any younger.

Uche's cameo was terrific, not seen anything encouraging from him before but he led them a merry dance on this occasion. I wonder if he'll get used more.

I suspect Clyne will start at Shelbourne.
Mateta has looked laboured and perhaps Uche might get a start on Thursday with Mateta on the bench.

I'm torn between thinking that and whether he looks slightly like a player who's had his head turned and has therefore somewhat mentally departed from the team.

JPM has been fantastic for us but if he is eyeing a move, I don't think he's in a position to lose form. He'll only go on to perceived bigger/better so long as he is playing well.

He needs to recapture that for his own sake, and of course ours.

A rather churlish observation. Clyne was fantastic, not played a Premier game for ages, had a 10 minute run out last season. He is 34 years old, asked to play as Munoz and Kporha injured and didn't let anyone down, playing up against a tricky young Nigerian winger.

We should definitely give Uche a run of games imo, ‘laboured’ is being kind to JP. Apart from looking jaded, he’s looked like one of these donkeys we’ve had in the past that can’t hit a barn door with a banjo.

I thought the same, so did most who were there, he got a great reception as he was going off with our end singing ‘he’s one of our own’

With the match in progress I did comment on HOL, in a fit of pique, that Mateta resembled an animal that brays !
He is looking laboured and perhaps his vim and vigour will return after a short rest.

2 things. If Munoz was injured he could in theory have had a night off and some t*** started on him. That seems plausible but I doubt very much it is him.

More importantly, how is Mitchell not getting into the England team let alone the squad. Madness.

Let's hope it's not Munoz.

OG says he's been nursing the injury for weeks and he was only ruled out the day before (so Saturday). If so, no way he would have been out the night before.

Having said that it could be a smokescreen

So many positives to take from yesterday.

I think we were all dreading the day Munoz got injured but Clyne stepped up a did a great job for us. He doesn't have Munoz's legs but we adapted well tactically.

Uche put in his best shift yet and now hopefully can be trusted as a regular sub. With these two earning Glasner's trust, we will hopefully see some much needed rotation.

Eddie also put in a good performance and will be great for his confidence to score a decent goal.

To go away to a good team like Fulham without two of our most key players in Munoz and Sarr and get a win shows how far we've come. I genuinely feel if we can beat Man City and sign 3 good players in early Jan, we're in the title race.

The Shelbourne & KuPs game are must wins. I'd start full strength against Shelbourne and if we can get 2 ahead, make use of all 5 subs at around 60 mins.

The KuPs game is more tricky as we play Leeds away 48 hours later. I think we start with major changes and only bring on the big guns if we need to.

Agree on this - he was really solid, as he always has been over the last few seasons.

But I can't help but ask the question as to why he has barely played a minute of the season to date - if he's good enough to play in an away Premier League win, which he clearly is, it does baffle me somewhat that Glasner has not used him at any other point.

It's all speculative of course, but taking the Munoz injury story at face value... surely we could have reduced his workload over the last month or so by utilising the fantastically reliable Clyne.

Indeed Painter.

Fulham kept feeding Chukwuezi to test Clyne but he was having non of it. A solid, unruffled, effective performance all the better for the reasons you state. 👍
