What’s obvious is that the views of the traditional Catholics match those of the band of the right who populate this place.

The current Pope has at least tried to drag his ultra Conservative religion a little towards recognising the world has changed since the dark ages.

It’s certainly been a problem for a very long time. What do you expect when a religion expects its priests to be monogamous! It’s not just the boys though. Look at the way the girls were treated in the laundries.

I have known a seminary where novice priests were given by their families and were totally unsuited to the work. Fit, healthy young heterosexual males and a congregation of adoring young women produced inevitable consequences. All hushed up of course.

What you would call 'modernising' i would call decadence.

By all means, you can cut and paste your moral values. Make a small change here and there. However, there is a point when you look at your former mountain of peas. And realise that it no longer exists.

Poland/Hungary/Romania have strong Christian ethos and are doing well. Having lots of kids and keeping their identity. Western Europe is a mess.

The Core of Christianity comes down to who pays for the upkeep of all the babies. He who fathered them or the taxpayer. Woke has broke the West.

The story , in the link below, would be almost impossible in any Traditional society. The bloke is on Netflix. At one point he meets a girl, confirms that she has turned 18 and is Ovulating. He gives her a sample, and that is the end of their transactional relationship. A life changing event and all indicative of a society that has lost its moral compass.

You would though, wouldn’t you?

It’s a question of common sense. All wasn’t good and moral in the past traditional Catholic world. I doubt it is now where it still dominates. Keeping your identity is not a worthy target when that identity is flawed.

That you can make mistakes during the process to improve things is obviously true, but those too can be recognised and improved. Though whether we are ever going to return to women having loads of children is very unlikely. In a world which is concerned about over population it makes no sense to add more.

It’s the way it is now in most developed countries without a lingering religious influence. Women work, many remain independent, they expect equality and to share decision making. That genie came out of the bottle a century ago and isn’t going back. Families are now smaller, whilst we all live longer. Controlled, managed immigration from third world countries is our future.

You don’t like it. Some cannot accept it. It won’t change though whoever is in control or whatever is promised. It’s what it is. It’s where we have all arrived on the journey from living in caves to our ultimate demise. If turning the clock is not an option then managing what is happening in a better way has to be the actual target.

We can do better and we must. At present we are making things worse by not being open about the realities and pretending that immigration is an option rather than an inevitability.

'an inevitability'........... Funny how Iceland, Poland, Hungary, Romania, and lots of other places are trundling along nicely. The bins get collected every week and they do not have homeless tents littering their towns ?

I have have been here since day1.

The only difference between Blair and any other political leader faced with the facts and the inevitable consequences of them was he did his best to be honest about them.

What his, and every subsequent government, failed to do is put sufficient emphasis onto positive efforts of integration. Being straightforward with every new arrival that they must learn to accept and respect British culture and ensuring any and all faith based behaviour is kept entirely private is essential.
