Time to start doing Business Steve..!!

FFS, when Glasner said that he thought Europa League, and whatever the prize money is, you need a lot better squad to play Roma than Haverford west.

Its got nothing to do with the europa league, he was moaning about our preseason last summer and now is moaning about our lack of activity this year.

Even if we shift out the dead wood; Holding, Ahamada, Edouard and Clyne - I doubt we would raise more than 20 million.

Edit: Don't want to label JRS as dead wood, but maybe 30m in total if we sell him along with the other 4.

This thread brings to mind the film Groundhog Day. I suspect if it were overlaid with the thread of last season, and those prior, it would look almost identical. In the film the loop is finally broken and Bill Murray gets together with Andie MacDowell, awww. Will Steve Parish surprise us and change the way he deals in the transfer market? Nah...

We should be in a better situation. Richards is one who is just back and he made a couple of horrendous errors against Mainz. Liverpool did very little last season and that worked out fine, The assumption is that because they have spent a lot they will be even better but you never know
I would still like us to get something for Guehi. Didn't Glasner quit his previous job because he wasn't backed by the board?
Let’s hope history does not repeats itself, I’m sure SP is looking at freeing up funds to get OG the one or two players he needs…..

Glasner seems to be getting impatient now, which is a worry. The window does rest mainly on whether Guehi and Eze go and their replacements, and those deals have been protracted. OG was promised he'd get the players he wanted earlier to avoid a similar start to last season, the UEFA demotion has obviously screwed things up, but I doubt Olli is too impressed with our failure to get our house in order for UEFA. Hindsight's a wonderful thing but these people get enough money to have foresight.

The team currently Glasner has finished 12th and won the FA cup, after a poor start. I dont believe Glasner is running to the media complaining, its all just made up.
You believe the quotes attributed to Glasner have been manufactured by the media. We will have to agree to disagree on this matter.
Perhaps his messaging was in response to a question put to him and the reply gave us an insight into his mindset.

I am not surprised by Glasner's impatience. His 2 year contract is running down and he doesn't seem to be in a rush to sign a new one.

We don't know anything but it's not unreasonable to suppose that he is waiting for the board to match his ambitions. If we drag our feet then it is only a matter of time before a bigger club poaches him and that will be down to us.

What promises have been made to him?

Precisely.
In a sense this is not news.
Glasner brought up this subject last season in relation to the pre season.
What is news is his pronouncement of the failure for promises made to be met.

I don’t think his new utterances will make a jot of difference and we will still encounter the last minute.com transfer scramble.
It’s the Palace way.

I am not privy to information apropos the conversations between Glasner and the club regarding pre-season transfer activity.
There are so many factors involved in the 'World' of transfers that it would seem somewhat foolhardy to make any such 'Promises' or guarantees.
It is the model of plausibility that Glasner expressed a firm desire for new signings to be in situ by a certain time, the club accepted that this would be an ideal scenario and that they would endeavour to acquire players within the timescale.

I'm not privvy to the conversations either, but do you disbelieve Glasner when he refers to such promises?
Glasner speaks better English than I do and is an intelligent man not given to wild statements.
It's clear he feels let down.

I don't believe that the club has deliberately set out to mislead him, but if Parish has given him an explanation of the reasons for the slow window it does not appear that Glasner has been duly placated.

It would appear that Glasner was given the impression that his desire for acquisitions within a timescale would be satisfied.
I can only re-iterate that making 'Promises' in the 'World' of transfers is probably not the best policy !

Personally, i think the Glasner quotes are disgraceful, when the original promise was made by Parish the circumstances were completely different, nobody knew the major shareholder would be changing, that has made a complete difference to everything, i would be amazed if Johnson doesn't buy Blitzer or Harris's Shares and become owner, we don't know what Johnson wants, or has offered, i would not be blackmailed by Glasner, he can do one, the club is more important than any individual, Parish like it or not is a Palace man, Glasner for all of his qualities, isn't, i think he will walk away at the end of next season anyway, like he has done everywhere else, who knows that he hasn't told Parish he wont extend his contract, everything is up in the air at the moment, and rash decisions are not the way forward.

David Moyes says the club are "running out" of time to make the impact they were hoping for in the summer transfer window.
Moyes said his club have money to spend but the deals they were hoping to complete have not materialised.
A plethora of factors are involved in the 'World' of transfers !
This is all true and was ever thus.

It begs the question how other clubs manage to successfully conclude early deals in the 'World of Transfers. '
Perhaps we need to ask them them the secret!

Rash decisions are not the way forward but perhaps rash speculation is.

Our club have successfully concluded early deals for a backup goalkeeper and a backup left wing-back and paid an astronomical £3 Mill for the privilege !!

Clearly Glasner is disappointed that more players have not been acquired by this juncture so that they can be well-versed in his tactics prior to the start of the season.
