Yep massive assumption and obviously we dont know any more than we are told. But the return date getting pushed and now not even having a return date is worrying.

No not ruling out Doucoure as ever returning to his best or Devenny stepping up, but we know for a fact that Doucoure isnt that type of player, we dont know enough about Devenny yet.

And look, if Bellingham/Rigg is so good that Wharton cant get in the team, thats a good problem to have. We'll have a 100m player on our hands!

But all the above aside, and I know this is a luxury. We are going to get injuries and drops in form. We now have pretty good DM depth, but not much on the creative side.
Chris Rigg was injured in Sunderland's 2-2 draw at Blackburn (In which he scored) and has missed his team's last 3 games.

We’re now linked with four right sided forwards - Doak, Esse , Fellows and Cherki.
If this is correct, I wonder what our order of preference would be?
Presumably we wouldn’t be buying more than one of them (if at all!).
It must also call into question the future of JRS with us.

We’re also linked with Bellingham who is a central attacking player, but I can’t see that happening as they’re right in the promotion race and he seems content there.
If they are not promoted it might be something that could be revisited in the summer.

For me it would be Cherki, Doak, Esse and Fellow.

However I dont think Cherki is realistic. Doak might bee too expensive and not sure Esse would make an instant impact. IMO Fellow isnt good enough.

I don’t think JRS has much of a future with us to be honest. If he did we wouldn’t have let him go on loan when we have acknowledged we are short of attacking options. Of the players out on loan the only ones who look to have a realistic chance of being in the first team squad in future are Ozoh and Imray. In Imray’s case I’d say even that was doubtful.

To be fair, I think many in the back room team thought Franca would feature and hence why JRS was sent out on loan.

I assume the thought process was to see how Franca did with JRS gaining match experience.

In my list I neglected to mention Almiron as another right sided forward we're linked with.

That may be a loan, but we'd presumably have to sign Chaloboah or Turner first to make that viable as they fill our quota of loans.

Almiron is a good player experienced at Premier League level and one who has done well against us, although we tend to look at younger players.
It may be a case of Newcastle wanting to offload him ( as they have excellent other options) and his agent is hawking him around.

I’m hoping it’s gone quiet because we’re finalising a deal for Diouf at left back. Once that’s done we can see what’s left in the kitty and which of the 4 right wing options we can afford. My guess is it will be Esse.
I look forward to the commentators dealing with Esse and Eze playing one twos regularly_ “Esse to Eze to Esse to Eze ….”

I have only witnessed Esse play once, for Millwall, in a televised match and he was not a stand-out performer. I stress this is the only time I have seen him 'Plough his furrow'.

Probably the same game I saw him in on TV - didn't stand out although the commentator and pundit kept expecting him to do something.

In any event, I thought the idea was to buy him and loan him back to Millwall till the summer so not one for immediate consumption.

I can’t see him being loaned back to Millwall, their fans would ruin him. He’d have to go on loan elsewhere, although looking at our bench, if he wouldn’t improve it, I’d give him a swerve.
