Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

I wouldn't necessarily disagree, but many on here happily include them in the first team squad.
For me it only accentuates the need to strengthen, particularly with the news of Nketiah's injury too.
You don't want to start the season with a patched up squad when you should be fit and raring to go.
Agree 100%

Without wishing to sound too harsh, these 3 can be ruled out of future plans, I can't envisage them getting fit, staying fit, and then making a claim for a first team place anytime soon. A great pity about Doucoure, as he was decent.

I agree, I have been concerned for some time about Doucoure’ chances of returning as a first choice starter in our midfield. I just don’t ever see that happening.

I wholeheartedly concur with these sentiments.

1)Clyne, too old
2) Doucoure, injured may never be the player he was.
3) Riad, never found out if he was good enough and still potentially long term injured.
4) Nketiah, injured and a second rate substitute for Mateta
5) Franca, injured and invariably injured shortly after returning to fitness.

Then we have Wharton and Eze who are both susceptible to injuries and normally miss a chunk of games throughout the season.

This squad is paper thin and you only need to pick up 2 or 3 injuries to our key normally fit players and we won’t have enough players for the PL and a European campaign.

I reckon we need at least one centre half, a midfielder and a striker as absolute minimum although I’d like a right wing back to challenge and cover Munoz too. So 4 players required and all of this assuming we don’t lose Guehi and Eze which means we would need 6!

So, in true Palace style we’ll probably buy 1 player and get another on loan and then Steve will tell us that we are so fortunate to not lose our existing players.

You can’t afford to just ‘stand still’ in the Premier League.

Every transfer window needs to see business done and the squad strengthened. You need players in before first choice players leave, otherwise you pay a premium to replace and you need new signings and new contracts otherwise existing squad members contracts are running down without the resilience at the other end of the chain.
I totally agree, yet again we have had a pre-season with just 3mil spent on players coming in, we have had a pre-season without really knowing what new players if any are coming in. This robs the team of bonding and getting to know their new team mates and how they fit in to the set-up. Sadly the club, in addition seems to be upsetting a good manager due to the lack of activity, despite it being reported he was promised the opposite. Sadly we are putting a lot of effort in to this appeal against a EUFA rules decision, rather than accepting that we got it wrong due to administration errors within the club, because they did not respond to the two emails set to the club earlier this year, advising of the rule changes. This coming season will be tougher than last term because the clubs coming up are much stronger and better prepared than those who were relegated back last season. It looks like it's going to be the usual practice for us, with panic buys or loans of players that no one else seems to want. Whatever European competition we end up playing in, it would ironic if we are dumped out at the preliminary round stage due to lack of adequate team strengthening.

Starting to look like we are going to be waiting until deadline day, or a day or two before to snap up our can't get a game at Chelsea loan and possibly one permanent signing.

We know its not easy, though other clubs somehow seem to manage better than we do at getting players in early. I don't expect Glasner to walk, but I do expect the first managerial sacking of a decent sized team in one of the top leagues, that he will leave if he's approached. He must be frustrated as are. Looking at the players in the squad beyond the first 11, it becomes apparent that the depth is very poor.

Clyne another year older and looks like a last resort for a few minutes. Doucoure looking like he may unfortunately never be a reliable player again. Riad and Franca, possibly the same. Esse looks raw, but not ready to start a run of Premier League games. Injuries will happen, especially with more games.

I am grateful what SP has done for this club, but his one constant failing, has been getting players in early enough in the transfer window to help the manager. It's been a ride of many slow starts and I expect this could be the same. He is awaiting for everything to align to make a move, but history should tell him that it often doesn't happen that way. If Guehi and or Eze go in the last couple of weeks in the window, we appear desperate and I wouldn't be surprised if adequate replacements don't come in. 'We tried, but it isn't easy'

As they say, you can't afford to stand still in the Premier League and that's what we have done this year. We have been too busy soaking up the glory from winning the FA Cup (not that isn't a bad thing) and worrying about which European competition we will be in, rather than getting ourselves ready for the next Premier League season and how we improve our squad.

Nene Dorgeles is the latest name to pop up. Plays in Austria so Glasner might have more knowledge about him? Looks a real talent based on 5 minutes of YouTube!

I don’t think many comparable clubs have been that active either have they? ( I exclude the newly promoted clubs as they have to be active and I don’t think they are recruiting the same quality additions we’ve been looking for).

I have read reports that agents are holding back player agreements with Palace waiting for “bigger” clubs to confirm an interest. (Looks like Guessand has gone this way) - whatever the reason for our lack of activity, there’s no doubting it’s very disappointing.
It ought to be easier for likes of Palace now - when players are less likely to want to sit on a Man City/Liverpool bench, when they have international ambitions to play in the upcoming World Cup.

I think we’ve developed a USP as a really good “stepping stone” for young talent (especially from the Championship) I think we should focus on those players who are desperate to come to us because they recognise how well Palace has done for the likes of Guehi, Ebs, Wharton, Mitchell, Olise etc.

Hope the new Football regulator does something to regulate agents - although suspect that might be beyond it’s scope.

I wonder if the lawyers have advised Parish that CAS might rule that the penalty for non-compliance is too steep and reduce it to a multi-million pound fine in exchange for reinstatement to the Europa League. If that is the case, then they may be waiting to hear what that sum looks like before they can work out what coffers they have left for transfers. But that's purely a guess...

I've said it a load of times, but most of our peers are weaker than last seasons. There haven't really bee any signings of note in the midfield.

Newcastle fans are pissed that they they have CL and still are missing out on every player they go in for.

It might sound strange to say, but they've at least moved their talent on for good money so now they have a kitty to spend on players on lengthy contracts. They've done half the job.

Brentford, Wolves, Forest, Brighton, Bournemouth have all brought in £100m+ and I wouldn't say have been mugged on any of those valuations.

It's only Fulham on the same boat as us on zero activity.

We have neither signed, nor sold, *nor renewed contracts*. If Mateta and Guehi/Eze had signed an extension, this would be a decent summer.

So far we are in a better place than some of the other clubs to start well in August if no one big now leaves, but all the other clubs are set up to be in a better place next summer when Guehi and Glasner(?) walk and Ebs and JP have 1 year left.

You make a fair point there Ambrose re sales revenue. Albeit at this stage we appear to keeping our best players - unlike those you referenced.

I guess the question there is - is it better to have a big pot of money (with a selling club fully aware of this before you try to negotiate a price for a player) or
Secure a deal shortly before you sell a high value player to replenish funds?

There’s arguments to had for both.

Imo we need a bit more strength, certainly in defence (CB, attacking RB) and someone who can support our front 3. Not after a lot! But with our yearly Cheslk agreement (could Sterling do a job?) that means we need potentially signings as well as replacing anyone who goes.

It's a lottery buying players. You can go the United route and get who you want for double their value or take a chance on a player few have heard of or battle with a whole host of teams for a decent player at a sensible price. No matter what you do if that player turns out to be crap or always injured fans will moan why we bought them in the first place. If they don't buy players fans will moan. Agents hold out for top dollar so is in their interests to let clubs sweat until the last minute. Its a minefield. If we keep who we have and don't get anyone else then we promote the youngsters, that's what they are for. Cost nothing and might do well or at least plug a hole temporarily. Palace will be spending loads on the new stand. We can't have everything. Happy for the odd cup run, flirting with Europe and staying in the Premier League.

Not incorrect.

But Wolves lost by far away their best 2 players. No way will they be able to replace what Cunha did for them.

Brentford have lost their best player, captain, manager. And their 2nd best players is now in strike.

Bournmouth will likely be ok, sales were for good money, and whilst good, they weren't IMO critical.

Forrest surely will be worse than last season, they were so efficient. surely Wood wont be able to put those numbers up again.

Brighton are pretty hard to predict, they cycle through so many players is hard to know if they have strengthened or weakened.

I think we all agree, that at this moment in time we need another cb. Now, i know we haven't been linked with him, as far as i know, but Lloyd Kelly. He's deemed surplus to requirements at Juve & they are open to selling him, according to a few outlets. might be worth a punt. No idea on price but, at 26 i don't think he'd be 'that' expensive.

I think Sterling could be very good for us however he’d have to take a massive haircut on salary. Does he want to play football or does he just want money?
