Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

Why would Mateta want to go to Newcastle? No other striker wants to, so why would he?

As for Guehi to Chelsea, I simply don't see it. If click bait is to be believed (and very occasionally it gets things right) Guehi has hesitated about going to Liverpool this summer as he wants assurances of regular first team football but hasn't been given it with Van Dijk in Marc's favoured position. With the World Cup next summer, the last thing Marc wants is to get lost on Chelsea's bench - BUT if the right offer came in for him and he wants to go, I'd let him. WE just need to recoup enough to buy Diomande or Bisseck plus a young back up - but I don't see Chelsea offering enough for that to happen..
Haven't Chelsea got a sell-on clause for him &/or a matching buy back clause? Seem to remember reading on here last year(i think) about that.

I’m sure they do - which puts them in a stronger negotiating position. Mind you if they were to offer us good deals on Trevoh, Chillwell and Carny it might be worth considering?

I know Chelsea tend to over value their players generally- but if we have a player they want (arguably need) their desire to get a deal done for Marc might see them be more reasonable?

Who knows!

And he would be right.
I disagree with your sentiment...if we hold onto our players, we only need 1-2 more.
Not sure how you can say we need another midfielder when we have Wharton and Hughes, then also Lerma, Kamada, Doucoure and Devenny as viable replacements.

Because less than a year ago (last season in early November) we were forced to start Devenny & Marc Guehi in centre midfield, in our home fixture against Fulham. A game which we lost 2-0 and were totally outplayed in (4-0 would not have flattered them).

Doucoure was injured, Lerma & Eze had hamstring injuries, Wharton was recovering from groin surgery and Hughes was suspended (shock horror! 😄)

We need a better squad depth this season, especially as we are in Europe.

Pls provide the video of this otherwise it didn't happen.

OG tends to be smarter with his wording.
IF, you had watched the presser, you would've seen & heard him say it. stop being so antagonistic & give posters the respect they deserve.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner was also asked during the news conference whether there was any truth in rumours linking his club with Chelsea's Raheem Sterling.

The Austrian tactician's response was limited to one word: "Nothing."

Sterling spent last season on loan at Arsenal but only made 17 appearances in the Premier League.

Chelsea have already signed Sato this summer and also brought back Sarr from Strasbourg so that have more than enough cover already.
Both of those 2 are quite young, but i agree on paper they have enough cover. Regardless of whether they want MG or not i would ask about their defender Josh Acheampong.

He's young but looks very promising. Played quite a few euro league games last season. However, with 2 other young CBs bought in for big money (well maybe just Sato) he may get less game time than last season.

A season loan would be good scenario for both clubs.

The other player i would consider on loan is Tyrique George. A fast, skilful striker/winger. Similar to Josh broke through last year, mainly playing in Europe. With all their additions this summer he will get limited game time.

Again a season loan might suit both teams.

I know some people don't like adding value to Chelsea players, but it is a cost effective short term solution and we need bodies ASAP.

I will be surprised if we DON"T loan someone from Chelsea given our past relationship and generally successful loans in recent years. As to who, well that will depend on whether we are able to bring in any permanent transfers and their position.

As you say, loaning is a cost effective short term solution.

Yep agree. Makes sense. Only just down the road and they have loads of spares

DCL can't expect that much in wages. He has to know no one will want to pay a lot for someone who hasn't been regularly healthy for years. So you put him on say 50k a week (about 2.6 million for a year). As I said, put incentive clauses so if he does end up playing regularly he can earn more.

At the very least he can hopefully get us over the hump until Nketiah comes back.

He'd still be a lot less money than we payed Holding for his one League Cup match he played for us.

That is different to claiming he straight up said no to the deal.

I said it before, we should sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

He's a free agent. And we can put incentives in regarding playing or suiting up time. That way if he's injured it's not a disaster.

I can see Palace trying to do this deal but a few issues wages/fitness/he left wanting first team spot because he is another wanting in England team.

Reports are he's asking for £150k per week, which is why he has 't been picked up. If he drops that to a more reasonable amount, I'd imagine that sitting on our bench is unlikely to be his first pick so I reckon it's a non-starter.
