Sentences too harsh!

As in Manchester United F.C.?
It appears that stabbing someone in a drug dispute or while committing a robbery is a less serious crime than one which is politically motivated, however deranged that motivation may be.
I can't be sure that it's politically motivated; the guy does not even seem to reach below average intelligence. Basically a simpleton. Easy to make an example of I guess. I doubt he had very good representation.
I don't actually care that he's banged up. If they hung him I wouldn't care about it, frankly. Not one bit.
Where I do care is this sudden "making an example" of people for political purposes. It clearly does not exist in common law but precedents are now being set. Consider you now get into a fight with a person of a different race; or God forbid some poor, definitely genuine, asylum seeker. They might attack you, yet if you hurt them - what precedent is now set?

I see that terrorist scumbag, Axel Rudakubana, has pleaded guilty to murdering three girls at a dance class in Southport on 29 July and to the attempted murders of eight children and two adults and to the production of a biological toxin, ricin, and possession of a terrorist document - namely a PDF file titled Military Studies in the Jihad against Tyrants: The Al-Qaeda Training Manual.
Meanwhile people are in prison for suggesting that he had done these things. He won’t even get a whole life sentence because he was under 21 when he carried out his atrocities in support of Islamic Fascism. He will probably be back on the streets in his 40s or earlier. We should still have the death penalty for these sorts of creatures.
Cue the apologists saying it all the fault of the Jews, far-right groups, racism, wicked Tories, Trump, white people, etc.

Carry on: no one was killed here. (1) Whereas others get ten/eleven years for knife murders. (2) That's the problem people have with it.
This guy's a fuckwit and a c***: but all the other fuckwit c**** are literally walking around stabbing all and sundry then getting out in a couple of years. (3)
And it's of little relevance to anybody that it's an asylum seeker - do they need somehow more than a person who's born here? Why exactly? On what grounds does that work. (4)
So we can safely say that for comparable crimes people get actually no where near these sentences. (5)
I read a case recently where two men attacked another man - stabbing him in the lung. One got community service, the other 15 months. Which is a more comparable case than knife murders. (6)

Hard to know where to start here. I'll try and take each point in turn.

(1) Should that matter? Should he get a lesser sentence just because by some good fortune he managed to miss the heart or a major artery that would have killed him? He stabbed him in the chest with the intent to kill him. Should he spend less time in jail because he f*cked up?

(2) Have you got an example? Given that the minimum time served for murder in the UK is 15 years (and 12 years for under 18s) I would suggest you have just made this up.

(3) "Literally" stabbing all and sundry - hyperbolic nonsense. And then downgraded to 'a couple of years' already.

(4) The fact he was an asylum seeker is extremely relevant to this case. It was explicitly his motive for the entire attack. He set out to kill an indiscriminate, innocent, asylum seeker. It would be equally relevant if he set out to explicitly kill someone that was born here.

(5) You really can't.

(6) Can you please link to this case so that we can compare the facts of this one to it.

I am not sure why you are having such an emotional reaction to someone who is a literal Nazi that stabbed someone completely unknown to them with the intent to kill them being behind bars for such a long time.

I suspect he will end up being detained in a secure psychiatric institution for the rest of his life. His behaviour seems unhinged to me, but we’ll see.

He’s a terrorist who lives by a stupid book so of course he’s unhinged !
So far as I know there is no evidence that he carried out his atrocities in the name of a religion. That he had obtained a document from a terrorist organisation doesn’t mean his actions were in support of them. Is he a terrorist or just a very disturbed young man?

I don’t know? I guess we will find out.

He’s a Trevor fuckwit who should be strung up to save us all aggro and money.

Has that been confirmed by them, or is it just a rumour?

Here is the Guardian article WE.

Rudakabana was referred to the govt's counter terrorist Prevent program 3 times between 2019 and 2021 over his general obsession with violence.

What actually happened and what is to be done to prevent it happening again, a public inquiry is necessary to determine, we hope.

😎

Help me work out some thoughts in my head. Not quite trusting my judgement on this one so bear with me.

1. The trial of Axel Rudakubana was delayed but then happens to co-incidentally fall on the same day as Trumps inauguration.

2. At that trial, he pleads guilty to all three murders. Zero sign of any kind of 'mental health' defence which, lets be honest, if you are facing a straight forward no chance of parole life sentence, you might as well give it a go no matter what. In fact, I would argue that any legal team worth their salt would insist on. But instead nothing. Which is fine. But if this was the case, then why the delay in the first place? If you are going to not offer a defence then its done and dusted inside a day?

For me it stinks. To high heaven.

We are being played.

Or are we? Convince me otherwise.

I believe some already on terror watchlists have carried out attacks before too. One carried out an attack while being watched by police a few seconds away.

Yup played like a banjo.
Maybe just maybe, there were potential repercussions to others to take a very long holiday abroad if it was open for an investigation into certain MPs history around this individual. This closes down the need for a full dedicated investigation. Now it can be a general investigation into dangerous individuals across the board. A bit like the rubbish jay report into ‘grooming gangs’.
