Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

Begs the question of what happens if their appeal is successful.

The implication for me is that they would take the European place instead of us.
Why else would they have to wait for the result of the appeal before deciding if Palace can participate.

Perhaps my reading of the situation is incorrect, but that's how it appears.
That's how I felt about it too.

He has a buyer (Woody) and he has agreed the sale. (Legally bound agreement)

Still will take another 3 weeks or so to go through

Woody Johnson will need to pass the fit and proper person test. There is a low bar.

And the Premier League need to ratify it.
Those conditions mean it is only legally binding subject to meeting those conditions.

EUFA cannot be expected to guess the outcome of a future event over which none of the active parties has any control.

For these reasons, I fully expect the proposed sale to WJ to be irrelevant in terms of a final decision today.

Textor's resignation removes control at Lyon but not interest.

That also applies with us, as of today.

I am guessing that EUFA may make a provisional decision, allowing Palace to play in the Europa but subject to Textor selling his shares and complying with all regulations on the sale within, say, 28 days of today.

Not sure how UEFA can make any provisional decision as suggested…it’s in the hands of the premier league and an internal matter which takes as long as it takes. The premier league won’t be interested in rushing any decision as has been shown by them previously.

What a shitshow.

So...on May 17th when we won the FA Cup, at that moment it appears that UEFA now think we weren't compliant with the MCO rules. Although they haven't come out and actually said that.

6 weeks later, Lyon financially implode and get relegated. They agree ( big of them ) to agree to exclusion from Europe pending an appeal to that relegation.

That enables UEFA to interpret their own rules to suit themselves. As with Blind Trusts, it's a version of looking the other way.

Shameful

Only Palace can get caught up in a shambolic farce like this.

As I see it (and I have no info that isn't already out there)

  1. Uefa are scared stiff of making a decision on our fate until they absolutely have to.
  2. If Lyon fail in their appeal against relegation, Uefa can give a big sigh of relief and let us in as problem will be solved.
  3. if Lyon are successful then Uefa have to make a decision that will see them damned if they do (let us in) and damned if they don't as appeals to CAS are likely in either case and Uefa will then find themselves between a rock and a hard place trying to justify their decision.

Yes, UEFA are not fit for purpose, end of

Can't disagree

Though it could be cowardice. Because of their bad rules they don't want to have to adjudicate on Palace where they will either have to admit they have it wrong or have the case decided by CAS and risk the possibility of them ruling against UEFA. If Lyon are relegated they are off the hook.

And by kicking the can down the road Textor's sale of Palace may have already been completed by the time the French have worked through their appeals process. Now Textor has resigned that might be in Lyon's favour in getting reinstated.

But if by then Textor has zero shares at Palace, or any control at Lyon, it would be bizarre (but not unlike UEFA) to not admit us. In which case our CAS appeal would have to be quick.

Whatever, it messes up our summer transfer business. We know Oliver does not like that!

IMO, we should prepare for the upcoming season that we are not getting in, so buy and sell accordingly, keeping the 4 loans options available if needed, i don't think it will effect Guehi or Eze's decision at all, what they decide to do.

UEFA are an utter embarrassment of an organisation.

They've had weeks to get their sh*t together and are still proving to be incompetent.

If this was United or Barcelona, they would have found their way to a successful outcome and had assurances their spot was safe by now.

Palace's situation is straight forward. Why they're dragging it out every possible second is mind-boggling.

UEFA should now be ineligible to continue in the role they are.

Lyon's situation should have no bearing an our outcome. Everyone in football knows Palace should be in the competition - but this useless organization (whom lack any organization) shouldn't be in any positions of power.

It's their awful ambiguous rules that are delaying everything anyway.

So, it looks like we are now waiting on Lyons appeal to their relegation. If it's upheld we are in, if not.......
That's how I read it otherwise why mention Lyon.

UEFA have now dropped all this in the French FA's lap will they really relegate Lyon and ban them from Europe? Would the PL relegate Man City?

Not looking good I just hope that Parish has the lawyers all over this in readiness for the bad news.

Yes agree, why else wait for the Lyon appeal to be completed.

I suspect they 1st March rule is the one they are focusing on, so on that date we were in breach of their rules. The fact that Textor clearly doesn't/didn't have a controlling interest etc appears to be less relevant to them.

An absolute joke, if the true.
