Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

So... Forest didn't qualify for the Europa League, but we did.

Their multi-club owner discovers they can get in if we get booted out, because we have a multi-club owner.

So, Forest's multi-club owner complains that we have a multi-club owner, stating they, with their multi-club owner, should get into the Europa League instead of us, because of our multi-club owner.

This is a weapons-grade level of hypocrisy. I'm not sure even Donald Trump has managed this.

But in this hugely corrupt world, who knows what will prevail?!

The alleged letter from the Forest chairman would be a shameful move.
I have seen Forest fans online saying we deserve Europe. So at least some of their own fan base don't approve.
English clubs should be supporting our position. I'm sure our chairman would do the right thing if the boot was on the other foot.
Not just forest fans, tbf most Brighton fans are in agreement that we deserve to be in Europe and not them for finishing 8th.

They wouldnt need to put the fat bloke's shares into a blind trust as Olympiakos are in the Champions League, so there's no conflict of interest. Forest bottled it massively, and are now trying to steal our rightful place in the Europa League!
Don’t they go into the Europa League if they get knocked out first round?

Lets just reserve judgement on this letter.

Some are reporting that its asking for us to get kicked out.

Others that its asking for UEFA clarification on how best to deal with the Forrest and Olympiacos situation, to avoid having to move shares in and out of a blind trust.

Clearly the first option is going to get more clicks

Sounds like UEFA are working with us to get a solution, so that’s positive.

On another note, the Brondby issue and Conference football.

Textor owns 43% over the 30% limit hence the issue we have at the moment

But what about Blazier, his share of Palace therefore must be under 30% so we are ok in theory for the conference? Of course his voting share might be over but that’s not the issue at hand?

Thoughts?

Indeed.
The media love a bun fight.

I really struggle with the "we could not have seen this coming argument". At the end of last season we were looking like world beaters. Going into the summer break, I bet that most Palace people thought we had serious top 8 chances and that a European place was a real possibility at the end of this season.

Agreed, we had a terrible start but it was during last summer that the club should have been looking at European ramifications. Certainly, way before we were beating Stockport and Doncaster.

I don't know if blind trusts etc are the answer or if Textor can/could have/should have sold his shares. However, those in authority, ie the directors, have to take responsibility for what seems an apparent lack of business foresight. For all the great achievements of CPFC 2010, this has happened on their watch.

I am not blaming any individual. I think that this is still the best time ever to be a Palace fan. Hopefully, we will get the outcome that we all desire and lessons will be learnt.

I am, and I'd like to think Parish is as well, if only for idea that Parish had to shout the old cliche'd "It's your fault were in this position, so you can go sort it out" argument in Textor's face.

There is, of course another reason this issue was overlooked.. everyone at the club (including Textor) fully expected him to have already sold his shares by now.

Not since they changed it to the league format, if you're knocked out, you're out (same for the Europa/Conference League).
Thanks for the explanation. That answers my point as well. I think the only thing we can rightfully assume is that the rules will be changed every season although in this case I actually agree.

Brighton as a club put out a statement along the lines of, they won't do what forrest have done as they agree that we deserve europa lge on footballing merit.

That’s the owner who doesn’t own Forest but sees fit to walk on the pitch to bollock the manager at full time. Yeh he definitely has no influence over the club.

Palace would be punished because of a rule in place to stop people like him. Mental

The same dirtbag who hired professional cheat Clattenberg to slag off the refs on his behalf.

What a vile club they are.

Our future hopes for Europe in the hands of Textor "doing the right thing" a shambolic situation, lets hope he does the right thing, but get what right thing is by getting the criteria right , i think someone said that in the first place.
???
Do YOU even know what you are talking about?

Keeping in constant contact with the CFCB, to check what we a trying to put right is what they require, and not just what we think is right, and hoping Textor doesn't take us to the cleaners.
Hahahaha,
You any idea how pathetic that sounds?
UEFA secretary: Sir its that little South London club on the phone again.
UEFA official: What do they want this time?
U.S.: They just want another catch up, they call it 'getting their criteria right'
U.O.: In regards what/
U.S.: I think they just want to get all their ducks in a row and make sure everything is ok for when (or if) they ever qualify for European football.
U.O.: They do realise that they have never won a domestic trophy never mind played in Europe Except for that time they played in the Intertoto and went out in the first round?
Cue entire office floor falling about laughing.
🤣 🤣 🤣

No clue mate. Not a one!

Who do you think is at fault, nobody, UEFA, Palace, its not a criticism just a question, i don't think we have broken any rules.
But you keep banging on about 'mismanagement' and 'getting our criteria right'. You need to make up your mind!
As far as I am concerned Palace have not broken any rules and therefore are not guilty of failing to foresee this problem because they have done nothing wrong.
If UEFA announce their findings that Palace have no case to answer and can go ahead and compete in the Europa league that will be proof that all along Palace had done nothing wrong.

If that is true fair dues to Brighton. If the situation was reversed I would hate our club to do what Forest are doing. As regards a ‘blind trust’ there was NO need for one since Textor does not run the club. I am assuming at last weeks meeting we told UEFA to check their own rules and cop on. Any delay is down to them waiting for their legal people running up their fees while they confirm there is NO case to answer.

When I had a Season Ticket (early 2000's), I used to get it through the post, with a CPFC fixtures list. League matches had FA Cup tie dates mixed in. Last fixture on that list was the FA Cup Final.
Then The Beer Festival came into being, and that was normally held on FA Cup Final Day (with the proviso: If Palace are not involved.)

So it has been in the back of someone's mind at the Club for quite a number of years. Just saying at least someone in the club was prepared, even if it slipped a Shareholder's mind. 🙂

So you think it is fine for a club that finishes 2023/4 very strongly, and was hoped to continue in the same vane, looking for a top 8 possible finish, not to check if that our 25% voting share set up, with 2 shareholders in other European clubs might not be a problem, OFFICE, i retired at 44, keep going mate, your get there one day 😎
