Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

Apparently th Forest ownership have taken the shares out of blind trust following the failure to qualify for a tournament that Olympiakos are possibly going to be in.

If Forest are are now reinstated into the Europa league at the expense of Palace then they could be back in the same situation as us and I’m guessing they wouldn’t be allowed to put the shares back into a blind trust otherwise that would fly in the face of the argument against Palace.
They wouldnt need to put the fat bloke's shares into a blind trust as Olympiakos are in the Champions League, so there's no conflict of interest. Forest bottled it massively, and are now trying to steal our rightful place in the Europa League!

No, I haven't changed my position on this at all. I repeat, I have articulated what I perceive to be the issues.

The bit that you wrote that I have highlighted is where you - in my opinion - have got it wrong. You are now stating your opinion as FACT, which is a tendency of yours, whereas actually it's all conjecture at this time. You're calling it a '' schoolboy error '' , again without knowing the facts. As for looking '' farther ahead than just a few months '' I really don't know what you expect. I'm not going to repeat myself on that subject.

One thing we can agree on is that we hope UEFA resolve this to our satisfaction.
The only FACT, is we were not prepared for the Europa cup, lets end this, we both see the problem differently, which is fine, all we both want is to see our team playing in the Europa League, lets hope it happens.

I think that’s what’s bugging me most though, those that seem to be blaming the club, calling us rule breakers etc, ffs, no one thought when we were beating Stockport and Doncaster we’d be going on to win the fa cup, parish has enough to worry about without stressing about something that’s (probably) not going to happen. As for breaking rules, those that think that really do need to give their head a wobble, we’re basically not!! Especially as it’s impossible to break the rules of something that hasn’t even happened yet.

Blind trusts work well that fat pr#ck has just brought them all back because forest didnt get into champions lge , so blind trusts are still under the influence of the sellers , so they would vote the way the owners want , uefa are as thick as SH#T not understanding this , I still think we are ok as Textor only has a 25% vote regardless of the 45%which is split between personnel ownership and holding company

UEFA know full well how Blind Trusts operate. They are just for effect, rather like Smoke and Mirrors

All this talk of Forest "being dodgy" , is rather unsettling. 😀

I think the level of idiocy that Textor is displaying, is probably the main reason people pay money to be rid of him. He is a walking financial train wreck

Exactly, its mind blowing thats actually what some expect. Beat Donny, get prepared for the Europa league...in what world?!

Give you heads a wobble

Who do you think is at fault, nobody, UEFA, Palace, its not a criticism just a question, i don't think we have broken any rules.

I really struggle with the "we could not have seen this coming argument". At the end of last season we were looking like world beaters. Going into the summer break, I bet that most Palace people thought we had serious top 8 chances and that a European place was a real possibility at the end of this season.

Agreed, we had a terrible start but it was during last summer that the club should have been looking at European ramifications. Certainly, way before we were beating Stockport and Doncaster.

I don't know if blind trusts etc are the answer or if Textor can/could have/should have sold his shares. However, those in authority, ie the directors, have to take responsibility for what seems an apparent lack of business foresight. For all the great achievements of CPFC 2010, this has happened on their watch.

I am not blaming any individual. I think that this is still the best time ever to be a Palace fan. Hopefully, we will get the outcome that we all desire and lessons will be learnt.

Except if the board view is that we are not part of a multi arrangement, a blind trust would undermine the position wouldn't it?

I've made my peace with Lanzo - we have to agree to disagree.

And the same with you.

If we take the Blind Trust scenario, this was available as a solution but with a deadline attached to it. At that time we were highly unlikely to qualify for Europe through League position and had only made it to the 5th round of the FA Cup. Pretty flimsy argument for entering into a Blind Trust at that juncture.

To me, you are suggesting that on the back of a good run at the end of last season ( which OG himself said was unlikely to be a guide for this season just gone ), then the club should have taken steps to avoid the current situation. I don't think that's realistic.

When it comes to Textors shares, it's been widely reported that he wanted out of Palace because he wanted to pursue the multi club ownership route denied to him by Parish at Palace, but possible if he could win the bid for Everton. Nothing came of it and he still has the shares now. Not his fault if he wants to sell but nobody wants to buy !

Anyway, ultimately we all want the same thing - our club in Europe. Let's hope it happens.

here's another little side note he has brought back the blind trust and pushing for forest to be given our place , if Olympiakos get knocked out of the champions lge they still could play in Europa lge which means forest cant play in it or Olympiakos cant , the plot thickens , if uefa allow this , the s*** will hit the fan , and palace then have the right to sue them for millions , which makes me think even more , that we have a very strong case

I'm more interested in how much his UEFA bung was.

Not since they changed it to the league format, if you're knocked out, you're out (same for the Europa/Conference League).

I think the key issue here is that the club could not compel Textor to put his shares into a blind trust and why would he have done that back at the start of the year when he was either looking to buy the club or sell his shares (depending which day of the week it was). He would have been handing over his voting rights at a time when, let's be honest, no one was expecting us to win the cup and enter Europe. He is not the owner of Palace and doesn't have majority voting rights, which is what makes him different from the pudding monster at Notts Forest.

Perhaps Textor should sell his shares to the other directors, with a contract to buy them back at the same price after the Euros are finished.
This seems like a good solution on face value. There might be issues with that idea that we are unaware of.
The fact that UEFA are apparently willing to allow us to retrospectively fix the problem is a positive. It appears that it is just down to the relevant parties to get it done.
Textor wants out so if he sells his shares or even part, it's a win win.

They wouldnt need to put the fat bloke's shares into a blind trust as Olympiakos are in the Champions League, so there's no conflict of interest. Forest bottled it massively, and are now trying to steal our rightful place in the Europa League!
The alleged letter from the Forest chairman would be a shameful move.
I have seen Forest fans online saying we deserve Europe. So at least some of their own fan base don't approve.
English clubs should be supporting our position. I'm sure our chairman would do the right thing if the boot was on the other foot.
