Our present squad

Do you get the feeling we are focusing our thin squad on the cups? I can see why.

Forest showed last season that, by the last quarter, resources will out. Notwithstanding how good you are, you will fall away and out of ECL contention unless you have the juice like the rich few to make it to the end.

Given our finite resources, we will suffer the same fate. We are knackered now and we have yet to start our 6 week run of a game every 3 days.

Going for the cups and riding the league is sensible. After all, looking back in a few years will you remember winning the Conference League / League Cup; or regret the fact that we finished 9th instead of 6th?
Agree with most of what you say and I think it is more likely than not that we get found out by Christmas when we will have played more competitive games than anyone else.

But amending your last paragraph slightly, would you rather lose in the final of a cup and finish 9th or finish 5th and probably qualify for the Champions League?

This January window is going to be very interesting. Are the board only going to be investing if Glasner signs a new contract?

Perhaps one should consider as to whether the 'Board' will wish to purchase players to fit the 'Glasner Way' if it becomes known to them that he will be departing at the end of the season.
I suppose that league position and points tally might be a factor and of course players can be loaned until the end of the campaign.

speaking of our squad - has anyone stayed behind after a game and watched them warm down... any chance they come over to fans if they have like a sign or something... I'm travelling over from Canada and would love to see my boys get a high five from a player or two...

Was thinking about staying behind after the game, hoping to catch them as they leave the stadium maybe... any experiences with this?

The Palace Women's team stay behind to meet fans, sign autographs and take photos.

with European footie this year our squad size and especially those Glasner trusts is limited.

With the Leeds game moved to the 20th Dec to accommodate Arsenal on the 23rd and the Conference league game on the 18th we clearly need to maximise our squad for these 3 games.

The obvious one is the conference league game. We are at home to a Finnish team KuPS, who although they have 5 points from 3 games thus far, should be beatable regardless of the team we field.

I'm thinking we need players like Clyne, Sosa, Riad (if fit) and Esse & Uche playing from the start.

Devenny and Eddie N (if fit) should be shoe ins.

This week and our subsequent form over Christmas will be key to our season.

I'd put money on Glasner only playing Sosa from the start ...Perhaps Devenney and Eddie (if fit)

No. Nobody remembers the beaten finalist.

I watched the 2nd half of our U21 team v Juventus the other night. Although we got a good result I can't say I saw any talent standing out on either side. Esse got a knock on the head and disappeared but anyway was lightweight before being subbed off. So I am not expecting our academy to provide any squad players in the short term. I reckon some of our untried juniors on the bench sometimes are making up the numbers for experience purposes. Unlikely to get a run. We really need to be very active in the January window or I fear Glasner may start looking elsewhere. Our squad is desperately undersized for a team still involved in the league, both domestic cups and europe. Although our players say they like to be playing a lot, fatigue was definitely an issue in the 2nd half v Brighton.

Glasner prefers to work with a smaller squad, however some of the options from the bench do not infuse me with positivity.
