Our present squad

Raid is out for at least 5 to 6 months and Doucoure is not even on the radar for any return.

Couple of injuries which we will inevitably get will put huge pressure on this small squad playing twice a week across 4 competitions.
Riad and Doucoure both back in November touch wood
Nketiah October
Sarr 4-6 weeks
Wharton not sure

So i would like to see this line up for our next match:

Henderson
Muñoz
Richards
Lacroix
Guéhi
Mitchell
Kamada
Hughes
Esse
Pino
Mateta

I like him, no idea where his best position is, but if he picks his confidence up, weve got a player!! Certainly better than other outfield players weve signed from that side of the border (Dorman, Goodwill etc.)!
Interesting that he was playing left wing back for his country. I hadn’t thought about him as an option there.
He’s a decent 21 year old with potential.

I’d expect lerma with Hughes and Kamada - mateta and if back from injury Yeremy as the front three.

A decent team, hopefully our tactics beat Sunderland as that would be a huge win for us. A strong start would be season defining

He will be 3rd choice there but I could also see him as the left sided midfielder if we ever went to a 4-3-3 (which could be next season at the latest). Certainly a very useful utility player
He looked very assured and you could see he was used to playing with a higher standard of player. Took his goal well with the right foot and had a cracking direct free kick that hit the bar with the keeper beaten. He may be the best for that role in the squad now Olise and Eze have left.
It will be interesting to see how he fares against Germany

If Doucoure is back in November I’m rather surprised that he’s not in the Conference squad. That points to a continued injury that’s a little more serious to me.

I suspect it was going to be either Riad or Doucoure given the necessity to include Rak-Sakyi and Kporha as club grown players. Our need for CB back-up is probably greater than that of midfield back-up hence Riad got the nod. I don't think there's more than that in it but I could be wrong.

No, that’s a good shout and probably pretty accurate. I didn’t think of that.

I missed this when it came out recently. Latest Opta global rankings
Pretty amazing and probably down to our recent record against top teams

If true, it shows just how silly the rankings are. Liverpool better than PSG? Us between Bayern and Inter? Ok. Man City right up there? It's more of a laugh than anything else. 9th best team in the world?
We should use our reserves for the Conference League, win that, win a cup and finish in the Champions League spots easily. We've an outside chance of a treble.

Henderson/Benitez

Muñoz/Clyne/Cardines

Richards/ Riad
Lacroix/Convott
Guéhi

Mitchell/Sosa

Wharton/Doucoure
Lerma /Hughes/Kamada

Devenny/Pino
Sarr/Esse/Uche

Mateta/Nketiah

So judging by Glasner recent interveiw this will be our starting 11 until there's injures or Afcon.

Henderson
Muñoz
Richards
Lacroix
Guéhi
Mitchell
Wharton
Kamada
Pino
Sarr
Mateta

Glasner dosent like Rotation and he has a point, look at our match against Millwall but this could also work against us as our players looked tired at the end of the Everton game.

Anyways in Glasner we trust 🙂

The lack of squad depth will be the main reason Glasner leaves.
And yet he is on record as saying he prefers a smaller squad as he doesn't want to have 1st team squad players who won't get a look-in and he wants to have spaces available so that Academy players can see a pathway to the 1st team squad and can get an opportunity.

IMO it's not the size of the squad that's the issue for Glasner but our failure to get key players in early in the Summer window, He puts a lot of emphasis on having all his players available for a good pre-season so they can be well-drilled in his system.

A year ago, you were asking for Glasner to be sacked and replaced by Moyes!

Glasner said he was content with the squad size last week.
This is different to saying that he's content with the make up of the squad.

In the summer he said he wanted first team ready players.

It could be argued that only Pino fits this criteria, although Benitez and Sosa are experienced players.
Canvot and Uche , and before them Esse, are inexperienced.

In an important league game I don't see Uche, Esse or Canvot starting unless there's no other options.
It's why we see Devenny and Kamada played in advanced positions if one of the front 3 are unavailable, even if it's not their position while it is for Uche and Esse.

One other point, I haven't seen an official announcement of the appointment of the new DOF even if there have been rumours that he has started work.
