Next Manager?

Gareth Southgate has not managed at club level for about 15 years.
In his first season at Middlesbrough they finished 12th in the PL.
In his second season they finished 13th in the PL.
The following season Middlesbrough were relegated after finishing 19th.
In the Championship Southgate was removed from his services after 13 League games. This caused controversy as the team were not far removed from the top when he was dismissed but the decision was reached a few weeks beforehand.

I don't think anyone suggesting Southgate is being serious and/or a Palace fan. I have laughed at the joke though.

Just checking how on the potential Spanish managers got on tonight as both Getafe and Rayo Vallecano were playing.

Getafe lost 1-0 at home to Valencia - who were third off bottom.

Rayo Vallecano lost 3-0 at Celta Vigo.

Both lost
No goals scored

Yep, can see why the board are looking at them.

Don't realistically believe Paddy is even a short term solution.
Perhaps an Assistant under a proven relegation fighter like Big Sam would be an option until end of the season,if Glasner, is fired very soon.
Why? Not saying you're wrong but the U21s were all concquering under Paddy. And that was before we had players feeding in from the improved academy . He has now coached under Roy and OG, appears passionate about the club and may have a great relationship with the players. At least try as interim to the summer.

The guide on the tour today expressed the sentiment that having managed at international level, Southgate would not be intrested in managing at domestic level.

Exactly, Look at Keith Andrews at Brentford - no previous management experience but has stepped up admirably. Paddy is a motivator - the players know him and if the players trust him, it could work.

He's also well versed in the club's politics. This sort of internal promotion worked for Liverpool for many years so could be worth a shot.

So how about the following?

Crystal Palace Want to Appoint Xavi as Oliver Glasner Successor
Recent reports (late 2025/early 2026) suggest that Crystal Palace is considering former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernández as a potential successor to their current manager, Oliver Glasner, who is expected to leave at the end of the season, aligning with Xavi's interest in managing in the Premier League.
Key Points:
  • Palace's Interest: Crystal Palace is reportedly looking at Xavi to build a long-term project, matching his desire for stability.
  • Xavi's Ambition: Xavi has expressed a strong interest in managing in the Premier League due to its passion, seeking a project with four years to develop his style of football, says Football365.
  • Context: This comes as current manager Oliver Glasner informed the club of his intention to leave at the end of the season, creating a managerial vacancy, notes Sky Sports.
While there's no confirmation, the rumor mill links Xavi to a potential move to Selhurst Park as a promising managerial prospect for the future, according to GiveMeSport and Telegrafi.

Nice idea but you'd think Liverpool would have an eye on him and if all else fails there's always Tottering Hotsperm.

If Southgate is next in line, then it’s right back to mid table. He’ll be another Roy Hodgson.
Some of you do make me laugh. Mid table is exactly where we hope to be with the stadium and funding we have. Stable mid table with a chance for some magic once in a while, like last season.

Yes we can dream of more but let's not become fantasists...

No suggestion in his performances so far that he won't be on the bench here whoever is the manager. Strange pick up given Sarr was only out for a few games
I have watched both they can come from the left and right so it would work and thats what is needed keep the full backs busy , Olise was left footed and played on the right

I noticed that Iraola now has only one win in 15 games at Bournemouth, but he's still being touted for United and Spuds. Likewise, Glasner is being touted for both jobs and has no win in 10. Is the new way to get a top job not to win?

Wilfred Nancy will be well chuffed with that policy.
