Next Manager?

I think Iraola would be most peoples choice, Frank or Dyche 50/50, no to Goofgate, or someone out of the blue, Ange, Popovic etc

I like what Frank did at Brentford and how he came across, the only concern is that he brought Brentford through similar to what Doogie did here, he developed the squad and they played in quite a specific way, using the whole width of the pitch whereas Glasner's set up is narrow so the ball can be dominated, transplanting a manager into an unfamiliar scenario doesn't always work or takes time for a rebuild, he might adapt well but he might not be such a good fit, my vibes point me to Robbie Keane, he clearly has more to him than meets the eye in terms of football intelligence, and he looks like a motivator who is demanding of his players, could see him hit the ground and run better than Frank. There does seem to be serious consideration given to Roger Schmidt who has worked with Glasner, who has a proven record and would provide continuity.

The problem for some clubs in the PL has, it seems, not necessarily been a case of poor managers being appointed, rather a lack of clear vision of what a club wants, with this being most obvious with Spurs and Forest. On the flipside, Brentford and Brighton seem to have found managers who fit their vision, rather than adapting their squad and playing style to the manager. So, if we were to fit that model, who would be the best appointment to fit our current squad and identity as a team?

He's not going to get pulses raising like a move for Iraola, but I feel like Frank makes the most sense. I know some will question whether his success at Brentford was due to their structure and setup, but he always impressed me in the way he conducted himself, the closeness he seemed to build in their squad and his ability to get the most out of the players he had available. Of course, Brennan Johnson might disagree with me!

If all Burnley could afford was thugs then you play thuggish football. Dyche did a great job with very limited resource and even managed to get them into Europe. Everton and Forest were unstable “basket cases” but he kept their heads above water. Similar to Hodgson in some respects but he is pragmatic and a safe pair of hands.
He did all of those things for clubs that were either in crisis or punching above their weight. Palace are neither of those. I'd like to think we had a bit more ambition these days than to employ a 'safe pair of hands' just about staying up each season. How boring is that?
I loved Roy Hodgson for a number of reasons but I dont miss his pragmatic style, nor watching games where we only see 30% of the ball. In fact I dont know anyone that would want to return to that.

Can we not employ someone who doesn't value decent to watch togger please? After over a decade up here you'd hope it would be a basic requirement. I don't even mean 70% possession here, just someone like Iraola who has to be dragged kicking and screaming to setting up a team to just keep the score down
