When your purpose is to protect people from the actions of others who make arbitrary determinations then DEI has its place. That's DEI done then.

And when your purpose is to run a business or provide a service competence is all that counts. When your purpose is to protect people from the actions of others who make arbitrary determinations then DEI has its place.
That appears such a win win statement in your first line. It is though totally wrong. Most racists are non white and left leaning and the environment we live in now proves this. Muslims hate whites and BLM hates whites. Is that racist ?There is much in this post that I agree with. You are clearly not a racist and whilst most who sympathise with Reform aren’t either I suspect most racists support Reform.
I want everyone living in the UK to share our values too. If they choose to live here then that’s part of the contract. I would go further and insist on it, making it part of the visa process and extending that for much longer than at present. My hobbyhorse is with how we educate both new arrivals and their children. I want all religion and religious control or influence removed from both schools and public life. I want every child taught tolerance and respect and to learn how to challenge any intolerance or lack of respect they might encounter in their private life.
Does that make me far right? Not in my book because I am perfectly prepared to tolerate and respect others who return the sentiments. It’s behaviour that concerns me, not background or any other arbitrary characteristics.
No, the attitude of the far right goes well beyond my own wish to create harmony with determined requirements. The wish to “repatriate” is often based on unrealistic fear and a belief in the “great replacement “ theory. Apart from being completely impractical and unrealistic it’s showing the lack of respect and intolerance that lies at the heart of the problem.
So if Reform started to throw out all those who promote racist ideas, started to promote the need for reeducation and the removal of religion from public life, alongside a reversal of the objection to ensure effective moderation of social media and control of disinformation and misinformation, they might even start to make sense to me.
Surely cryrst people of colour can't be racist, and you must be by suggesting anything other. That appears such a win win statement in your first line. It is though totally wrong. All that counts to whom? To the shareholders? Employees? Or everyone else? And when your purpose is to run a business or provide a service competence is all that counts.
It isn’t! It’s your opinion. That appears such a win win statement in your first line. It is though totally wrong. Most racists are non white and left leaning and the environment we live in now proves this. Muslims hate whites and BLM hates whites. Is that racist ?
It matters to employees who, often despite more experience, see others promoted/rewarded over their head on grounds other than competence. If there is a level playing field DEI isn't needed. All that counts to whom? To the shareholders? Employees? Or everyone else?
Business owners would prefer there to be no regulations which restricted their returns. The most extreme would no doubt welcome the return of slavery.
So we regulate to protect ourselves. So long as it applies to all then there is a level playing field.
The real question is where the line is drawn between protection and interference. Between benefit and jeopardy, for us. All of us. That’s not easy and opinions will differ.
That’s why where the line is drawn is important. It matters to employees who, often despite more experience, see others promoted/rewarded over their head on grounds other than competence. If there is a level playing field DEI isn't needed.
Too late. That has happened wherever there are quotas. That’s why where the line is drawn is important.
DEI is often needed to establish a level playing field.
What it mustn’t do is overpower meritocracy.
Watch out or you'll get in trouble for cultural appropriation.Surely cryrst people of colour can't be racist, and you must be by suggesting anything other.
There you go, that's my CV done for the BBC. I just nèed to work on the being gay bit now.
Any evidence for this assertion of positivity? It isn’t! It’s your opinion.
One that’s not backed up by anything more than either prejudice or personal experience. Possibly both.
For sure racism is found everywhere but so is tolerance and acceptance. My personal experiences of different cultures being entirely positive.
Everyone seems to have opinions but yours are facts. Yours is an opinion and because you haven’t been on the end of racism it’s a minor thing. It isn’t! It’s your opinion.

Referring back to Wisbech's original reply, I don’t agree that most racists support Reform, because I think there is an upsurge of racist views amongst groups on the left of politics, including overt anti-semitism, but also certain groups treating white people as inferior beings whom it is acceptable to abuse. However, I have to agree with him that Reform will likely attract right-wing racists, and that is the very reason I am uneasy about the party. You always look at who is standing with you, and I don’t want to stand with those people. I also fully agree with Wisbech’s comments about religious (and therefore ethnic) influence in schools. We need our kids to grow up together, where they will learn (the old cliché) that there is so much more which unites us than divides us regardless of culture and religion. It isn’t! It’s your opinion.

Finding the right balance so that the playing field is truly level sometimes takes time and it can go too far one way before being corrected. It will though. Without the principals behind DEI being compromised.Too late. That has happened wherever there are quotas.
Only my word on my experiences. Many would accept it, although as I am certain you won't it's not worth my time to describe them. Especially as the list would be long and my time would be limited.Any evidence for this assertion of positivity?
I have opinions just like everyone else.Everyone seems to have opinions but yours are facts. Yours is an opinion and because you haven’t been on the end of racism it’s a minor thing.
