Mateta's contract.

Agreed but people don't always do the logical thing. Plenty of players have sulked rather than play their way out of a club, lets hope JPM is not one of them.

Today will be a good indicator.
Then Nketiah steps in and Mateta will land up at a lower league team.My point remains it is HIS choice.

We really must try to keep him. If European football is his aim, well we’ve no chance. Try a new contract with a realistic buy out for any club playing in Europe. Picking figures out the sky here £40m?

If he is on contract until the summer of 2027, then that figure is way too low.

Apart from not scoring enough with his head, he is pretty much the complete striker with a powerful shot, ability to get in the right place for close range finishes, run with the ball (both attributes he showed yesterday) ability to control the ball and lay it off well, can come back and make longer passes to players running through

Other than Haaland or Isak is there any striker in the league you would have rather have? And they are well into the 125 million range. Just imagine him at Liverpool instead of Nunez. He would probably have hit 20 league goals by now

Give him at least 50,000 a week more. It might make him happy and will show other players joining that Palace reward outstanding ability

Should give him What he want on a new contract as his the 3rd best striker in the PL at this present time and palace would be mad too sell him and it would cost palace more to replace him and currently there isnt that many strikers in palace price range they could afford

Amazed if he will be on any less than £100k. Probably more.

I Don't think whatever happens he will sign a new Contract with Palace, he wants more money and a club that plays in Europe, we might be able to do the first but not the second, with the years extension it probably puts another 5 to 10m on his price.
That is now an outside chance.

Unlikely, but not impossible! Might be the most remarkable turnaround after the start.

If JPM did depart I'd like to replace him with Liam Delap
Delap does look very much in the same mould. I expect he’s already a long way out of our price range though. Can’t see Ipswich selling a player of his age and potential for less than c£60m

Yes he is very much flavour of the month. Bit like Ferguson and Broja were a short time ago
