A couple of points here.
Firstly he is our player and until Newcastle pony up, it doesn't change a thing.
Secondly I see a lot of fans with this "small club mentality" that once a player is linked then it's automatic that they leave. 100% incorrect.
Since promotion in 2013 how many players with a high ceiling have we sold? 2. In 11 years:
Aaron Wan Bissaka
Micheal Olise.
How many players have we sold who were key players since promotion? 1.
Yannick Bolasie. We got the best of this deal too. Did little at Everton.
We lost Zaha on a free but his time was passing. We have better players now.
We don't lose players regularly. We need to change the mindset. We don't always sell, we rarely sell.
We have a chairman who puts the club first. So unlike in the past we aren't a soft touch.
If Newcastle want him, they need to pay £70m minimum. Howe can whine about a Newcastle tax but this tells me that they don't have the ability to pay what we want.
So he won't leave. Marc isn't agitating for a move and he knows the team is in a good place. We might finish above Newcastle if we keep the team together so as Newcastle aren't in Europe then why leave?
If a club in European competition comes in I'd be worried but as Newcastle are the only team to make a bid, I'm confident he stays
