Marc Guehi

The thing is Bournemouth picked up Dean Huijsen from Juventus in the summer for £12.5M (€15M)

He was absolutely immense against us last week and is only 19 years old. Real Madrid are already rumoured to be after his signature and it is players like this (and the likes of Maxence Lacrois) that we need to be bringing in BEFORE we let Guehi go.

I saw how good that kid was. Although max is a seriously good player and his commitment to his role is shown every game. Need one for the left wing and another striker and I think it would improve us so much. Once Wharton comes back it makes a difference.

Do we really need another right footed attacking player?
I wouldn't worry too much, none of these mooted swap deals have ever occured in reality as far as I can recall. They're always talked about but all the parties have to agree. When you have all the bullshit entourage players have - it's hard enough to buy or sell one at a time, let alone two.
Despite everything, is there any indication Doak wants to come to us or that we want him? It's usually more Football Manager 24 than serious transfer news.

Allegedly we are interested in Doak:

I almost guarantee he would come here on loan but a transfer? I doubt it. Because he won't want to and he'll be in a huff. Players are big time Charlies who all think they're Ronaldo when they're more like Ron in reality.

Personally speaking I'd charge the same price for Guehi with Doak as without Doak. He's not proved anything but Guehi is probably England's best defender these days. Or did no one notice? What is Doak? A bit part Scottish player? I think he's Scottish.

I understand that Guehi wants to join Liverpool.

Now whether they make a move for him next month remains to be seen as they also know his value will reduce next summer.

And they are cute like that.
Unlike Man U and others, Liverpool have been strategic, efficient and decisive with their transfer dealings.

The only way they could lose the PL this year or have a good chance at the CL is if VVD gets an extended injury! All other options they have covered. Buying Guehi adds insurance, adds youth, adds long term stability and makes sense to me!

I’m assuming he will not sign a new contract so I say take the money and move on, and immediately.

Apparently Gomez and Konate both injured. Which may make Guehi more urgent than that.

Whether we need him at the moment is moot but he's only just 19 and does show promise. He's very quick and runs well with the ball but his final ball needs work. Maybe that will come with experience, maybe it won't but if there's any truth in the story I wouldn't be unhappy about it.

We don't need Guehi, if we sign Chalobah. We signed Riad in the summer for a reason and Richards has shown he's perfectly competent.

Chelsea don't need Chalobah. They're stacked and Chalobah isn't an improvement on what they have (Fofana, Colwill, Disasi, Badiashile, Adarabioyo...).

Both City and Liverpool are in need of a centre back in January due to injuries threatening to derail their seasons. Both have cash left over from the summer as they had few incomings.

If January can see us pick up Chalobah, sell Guehi, and come out ~£20m or so positive then it's very good business given Guehi's contract situation.

My slight unease about letting Guehi go is that he is quite a skilled footballer for a centre-back, one who can create situations for us or at least show some proper composure on the ball. When you are playing 3 centre-backs with two workman-like defensive midfielders, some technical ability from the centre-backs is very valuable, and we have missed that from Andersen's departure. Having said that, I appreciate he will go at the end of the season anyway.

I spoke to my Liverpool friend and they described Doak as a Harry Wilson type player of the future.
Full quote from my friend is "brilliant winger, fast, skillful and a tough little lad with an eye for goal. If he leaves Liverpool he could be the next Harry Wilson".
