I was thinking the same. But no way we even try and agree to something before Thursday. If we lost, that would be the end of Glasner.

However it does put us in a better position if we have to sell. First 2 matches for Liverpool has probably added 5 million.

Not for Guehi, maybe (although we could agree a fee at least. Starting with a 5 after last night.
In the meantime, we desperately need cover in case Guehi goes last minute/ to provide better cover for our back 3) and three more incoming players we are all blue in the face discussing.
Crack on Palace we are running out of time.
 
For me it will come down to how desperate Palace are to let go and get some cash because the word going around is SP wants 40m+ and people like Liverpool will be laughing they don't need to pay that they really are not desperate.

The other thing is I said it before many clubs want a center defender but not show any interest in Guehi so they don't rate him or everyone looks at it as not bothered now we can try on free next season we will have 30-40m to tease him so big sign on fee for player and bigger wages.

Should have let him go last season for 70m big mistake that is club changing money for us.

I think he will leave for sure irrespective of what Glasner wants. We need to build for the future, if selling Guehi brings in two defenders and one of those being an experienced one then we should sell. Great player but he is not extending his stay. Let’s hope we have two replacements in mind and eventually Riad can put his injury behind him. Tough summer that was not expected
 
Whatever the outcome regarding this transfer window, he has shown what a class act he really is - playing today, not "feeling unwell" or having an "achilles moment". He should be lauded for the way he has handled this past few weeks - for me he is the commensurate CPFC player, and encompasses the role of the Team Captain .... just like Wardy. He would be my player statue outside of the stadium, because loyalty is hard to come by these days!

Its clear to me that - only the club & player + players agent really know what Newcastle offered last season, and how much we would have had left after Chelsea got their cut, we now know what we received from the PL for our league position achieved last season, how much Marc contributed to that & the fact that we almost certainly wouldn't have won the FA Cup & Community shield without him, giving thousands of Palace fans what for many would have been up there as 2 of the best fan experiences we have ever had, certainly for me its up there with getting married & the kids being born (if that makes me a sad old git in anyone's eyes I really don't care) - for me, in that context the difference between the Newcastle bid & whatever todays bid is from Liverpool or anyone else for that matter, tends to diminish somewhat.

Now we’re in the “proper” stage in the Conference league, slap a nice new contract down in front of him and get him to sign it today!!

Add on bonuses for every European game, bonus for winning the Conference league, bonus for either of the domestic cups…

Eight year deal and a 90mil release clause.
