Marc Guéhi

Is it decision day for the MG saga?
I think it was done and dusted, with the caveat he played last night for SP to placate OG after his comments after the 1st leg

Kudos to Marc how he has handled it and hopefully we can finally start moving on....

Gonna be a busy few days ahead!!

Now we’re in the “proper” stage in the Conference league, slap a nice new contract down in front of him and get him to sign it today!!

Add on bonuses for every European game, bonus for winning the Conference league, bonus for either of the domestic cups…

Eight year deal and a 90mil release clause.

I'd love this, I really would.

He's a brilliant player and for all the world seems the perfect personality to have at the football club.

For the same reasons however, I'd understand him wanting to and therefore moving onto 'bigger and better' things.

Its clear to me that - only the club & player + players agent really know what Newcastle offered last season, and how much we would have had left after Chelsea got their cut, we now know what we received from the PL for our league position achieved last season, how much Marc contributed to that & the fact that we almost certainly wouldn't have won the FA Cup & Community shield without him, giving thousands of Palace fans what for many would have been up there as 2 of the best fan experiences we have ever had, certainly for me its up there with getting married & the kids being born (if that makes me a sad old git in anyone's eyes I really don't care) - for me, in that context the difference between the Newcastle bid & whatever todays bid is from Liverpool or anyone else for that matter, tends to diminish somewhat.

I wasn't only speaking about Newcastle Spurs came in Jan and offered close to that as well it had been confirmed by multi parties and the Newcastle one as well had been.

Maybe Marc didn't like either it's possible but i expect it was SP wanting more he did the same with Wilf claiming he was worth silly money when rally he was worth what Everton offered around 35m.

Yes we would have won without him it's a team sport not a single player and he did nothing outstanding to get us through it showed it in the final when he went off we had no issues.

As far as I'm aware, Guehi's heart is set on Liverpool. Apparently they're low balling us. They've made a couple of offers we've rejected. Still negotiations are ongoing. I hear the club would prefer the City deal as we can try and leverage Akanji but I'm also hearing he's not keen.
So the only option seems if Liverpool offer 30-40 we might take it. If not, it's presumably Liverpool on a free or in January for 10-20 mil. Amongst all of this I can't find out if Guehi is a Liverpool fan. I presume so.
Pub gossip.

A story is circulating that Liverpool passed Fredrikstad all their intelligence on our play.

Probably nonsense.

If true, why would they do that?
I'd say it's a load of rubbish spread by Norwegian Liverpool fans. Who outnumber the residents of Liverpool at Anfield. The Anfield crowd in truth is nearly all tourists. The only place you get the locals are the Urchins at the top of the Kop.
This is just trying to look cute and chavvy.

MG and OG seem close.
My guess is Guehi stays for this season and then moves for free to the club Glasner will be managing when both their contracts expire?

OG makes it pretty clear that Guehi, is not pushing for a move. That won’t stop Parish, accepting a good offer. But it might well say Marc, is not keen to join Liverpool. Liverpool won’t like that. This is a case where loyalty could cost the club money they could do with.

He might renew, although that is not what I've been hearing. Sometimes we pull a rabbit out of a hat, don't we?
I am convincing myself that marc is going but only if we get 2 in, Glasner doesn’t want it but accepts it and keeps putting this stance out so parish can squeeze a few more millions out of Liverpool. When Marc goes much like Eze he leaves with so much respect, absolute professional to the end

Olise did, to everyone’s great surprise, then got sold for the release fee. It could happen again.

Or this could be a message to Liverpool, agreed between Parish and Glasner, that we won’t be mugged so get your finger out right now or you will have to wait until January.

At the end of the day we cannot force anything. A contract is a contract and if Marc decides not to vary it there is nothing we can do.

In an article published by the bbc he stated most of his friends are in Liverpool and Manchester.

In my view, he's going absolutely nowhere unless we have a suitable replacement lined up.
