Manchester City vs. Crystal Palace match thread

I know right , should have been 2 penalties the ball hit both his hands in unnatural positions.
Meanwhile the weeds get 2 penalties to add to the s*** load they've been handed this season. I'll be keen to see the blatant dives they are rewarded for whilst our boys get carded.

The game hinged on one moment, Eze's disallowed goal, that stands it could have been 5-2 to us, they were sloppy for the first half hour and we were slicing through their defence at will. They regrouped but we didn't respond, no point in singling out individuals but we lacked the quality to play through them quickly, any poor touches were seized upon and for the last hour of the game they were much sharper in getting to the ball and keeping it. As for their goals I'd only point the finger at our defence for their third and fourth where we failed to hold our defensive line and played them onside. Ollie will try and win every game that's left, but you could see he was keeping a bit up the proverbial sleeve second half, and I think he'll do the same away at Newcastle and Arsenal and have a real crack at home to Bournemouth. Bringing Mateta off and putting Sarr in the middle did seem to remove our best attacking outlet, but you have to respect the manager's decision, especially this manager. And Kamada was generally fine, good positioning, interceptions and distribition, mistimed tackle for their first goal and let de Bruyne in to blast over from close range, a fully fit Hughes is obviously preferable but he is starting to adjust and carries the ball up the pitch well - he needs to find a way to do more of that.

Asked why he brought Mateta off and replaced him with Will Hughes at the break, the Palace boss said: “It was a tactical decision.

“Now, I have to say it was the wrong decision. Not taking him off, but changing the formation to a 3-5-2. We wanted to control the midfield more, but it didn’t work. Subbing him wasn’t a mistake, he can do better than he did in the first half. He lost too many duels and balls. That’s why we decided to change something. The mistake I made was to change the system, not subbing JP.”

Jesus. The reason we had no midfield control was that useless overpaid c*** you keep playing ffs

KInd regards, Daichi's mum.

How can Glasner complain greatly? He picked Kamada who cannot press. If he wanted to close people down then he would have picked Hughes. A child can see that.
Hughes isn't 100% fit. Neither is Mateta. I'm assuming that Lacroix was hooked because he hasn't trained properly this week.

Glasner looks after his players and wants them all ready for the semi final.

We sacrificed the second half, but there is no saying we would have won anyway.

It's weird that out of all our players, Glasner blames Mateta and subbed him off, but seems to have no issue with the rest of our players, who were all at least equally dire, or worse.

We were 2-2 when Mateta came off, then conceded 3 goals when he was on the bench. And we completely capitulated. The way we gave up was disgraceful.

Henderson was embarrassing on that free kick goal. Wharton has been awful for weeks now. Kamada with his brain dead slide tackle. Eze can't stay onside. Mitchell fails on 5 consecutive crosses. Even Munoz was terrible today. But the problem is 100% with JPM? I don't get it.

I never expected any points, I predicted a narrow defeat.
5-2 is a disgrace.
😡
Would 5-3 have been a disgrace? Absolutely should have had a penalty at the end, 100% handball but I’m sure you will defend the Officials.
We were poor, especially second half but, although no full strength City team you only need to look at their bench to see the massive gulf between the 2 clubs

Second half they didn't compete at all. I can only imagine that they are preparing, subconsciously or otherwise, for the semi final. I also suspect that OG is formulating his side for that very game.
Note that we are 12th, Roy and PV achieved the same, so the Cup is the big one.
I'd be amazed and shocked if Kamada starts the semi final if others are available. That said, our midfield lacks depth and overall quality and is an area for improvement.
