Main Stand redevelopment thread

It’s the lack of communication between The Club (Parish) and us the fans that is the most annoying aspect.
Let’s hope there’ll be an announcement soon, perhaps via Woody, that we’re gonna build a new 60k capacity stadium!

I hope you are right. From my perspective living in the are the only sensible site is Crystal Palace Park. Woody Johnson, having already built a fabulous stadium, has the organisation to see the project through. As a former US Ambassador, he also has the political know how to twist arms to get permission if Mayor Khan gets on his soap box.

Upper Norwood is where many young people look to buy their first property and thus have less connection with the area as most move out eventually. I believe objections would not be as vocal as many expect as the nearest housing is more than 300 metres away. There are few objections to the tens of thousands attending pop concerts, festivals and fireworks already taking place. Further more, with four stations and 16 bus routes, public transport to a prospective stadium would be better than nearly every Premier League side other than West Ham. And then there is the carrot of a new tram link to Croydon.

The advantage to the Club would also be the development value of Selhurst Park for hundreds of new homes with shopping, transport and schools already in place.

I still live in hope!
This has to be the solution. Take Crystal Palace home. Over a century overdue.
I can hear a song coming on.

60,000 is too big for Palace at this moment in time. Dont get me wrong. The catchment area is big enough to sustain an Arsenal sized club in South London. But all the pieces of the puzzle have to fit to make this happen. First success on the pitch which will increase fanbase both here and overseas. More kids asking for a Palace shirt for Christmas and seeing the red n blue out and about (instead of Liverpool/Man U shirts. Then there's sustained investment in the team. It would inadvertently help our cause even more if Charlton and Millwall continue to fail and stay out of the Prem (lessening rival club interest in the area)
Right now I think Palace would be well suited to a 40/45,000 seater stadium. But where? This has been talked to death. Local government doesn't care about Palace and has never done a thing to help us in this regard. In my view there must be somewhere we could build a brand new stadium if the will is there on all sides to get it done. The Selhurst Depot has been touted, Land near East Croydon Station. Purley Way. Even going out to Gatwick Airport (which would be handy for Euro fixtures).

I never wanted Palace to leave the borough but with local authority seemingly uninterested in helping the club stay, a stadium which is more outdated every season that goes by and a need for bigger and better facilities I cant personally see how the club ends up avoiding moving to a new site and starting again.
