Main Stand redevelopment thread

I have been to almost all the current Prem grounds and agree Spurs ground is the best by far that is what 1billion gets you.

I will be going to Everton one when we play them.

I don't believe Sainsburys is issue anymore its us messing about which increased the price. (I am glad anyway we need new stadium not new stand the current location is to restrictive club needs to think about future)

Which Levy in an interview recently said would cost £2bn in todays market to build.

Parish went short on that slither of land and lost bigtime.

STILL no spades in the bloody ground

I noticed that the stadium tour booking page now goes through to next May.

What does that mean for the new stand?

Would they just cancel bookings if building were to begin, or are we now just going to knock the old one down at the end of the season?

It's all gone very quiet. Does anyone know anything?

Look guys you know standard rule of building and decorating is the designing , talking about it , then go down the pub and ask your mates opinion , then measure up redesign , go to another pub to ask another mate his opinion ,
Now do you all understand 🤪🤪

I thought we were past that stage.

Im bored of the excuses, there's no issue that money doesn't solve, we've got owners with more than enough, show you care, invest in the club, increase the clubs revenue, increase your investment, show some ambition.

For all of Textors faults, it seems it was his money that redeveloped the academy

The silence is concerning. Any update would be good.

It feels like the club is going backwards all the time it isn't moving forwards.
Success on the pitch is great, but the stadium is holding us back.

I have said on many occasions that this will probably never happen. Other clubs ha ave built whole new stadia in the time it has taken to not build anything at Selhurst.

We stand more chance of knocking down the Whitgift Centre and buildings new stadium in the centre of Croydon.

So, upping our capacity by about 8 thousand from 26 thousand to 34 thousand at the approximate cost of 200 million quid to put 8 thousand more bums on seats, that makes very sound financial sense that.

Parish said so long ago I can’t remember when - the Stadium is holding us back from moving to the next level. And achieving the success for the club that he craved and would be remembered for. Well maybe we have achieved it this year. And that’s removed whatever enthusiasm he had left for really kicking on with the project.

We know.

Doing nothing is not an option.

I'd be in favour of finding land for a new stadium. What ever the local objections might be, I'm sure that enough money could keep everyone quiet.

If we are to stay at Selhurst, I would put another tier on the Whitehorse before rebuilding the main stand. That way we can reduce the loss of capacity and just knock the old stand down.
That might work out cheaper than losing revenue and keeping the old stand intact while building goes on.

Clearly something is going on behind the scenes. I hope it is positive.

Building a new tier at the Whitehorse end is a good idea, as it was my understanding that the foundations were laid for a two tier stand at the beginning.
The big problem would be the executive boxes.
We can’t build a second tier until the new stand is built and boxes moved.

It's an absolute farce, they could have rebuilt the whole stadium in the time they are taking.
I'm getting on a bit now, and I really don't expect to see the new stand finished in my lifetime.
Fulham built a complete new stand in the time we've been fannying about, and we haven't even put a spade in the ground yet.

I hope you are right. From my perspective living in the are the only sensible site is Crystal Palace Park. Woody Johnson, having already built a fabulous stadium, has the organisation to see the project through. As a former US Ambassador, he also has the political know how to twist arms to get permission if Mayor Khan gets on his soap box.

Upper Norwood is where many young people look to buy their first property and thus have less connection with the area as most move out eventually. I believe objections would not be as vocal as many expect as the nearest housing is more than 300 metres away. There are few objections to the tens of thousands attending pop concerts, festivals and fireworks already taking place. Further more, with four stations and 16 bus routes, public transport to a prospective stadium would be better than nearly every Premier League side other than West Ham. And then there is the carrot of a new tram link to Croydon.

The advantage to the Club would also be the development value of Selhurst Park for hundreds of new homes with shopping, transport and schools already in place.

I still live in hope!

SP doesn't strike me as the type of person to lose interest in a project, especially one so integral to the clubs ability to take the next steps, as upgrading the main stand which would undoubtably provide a strong foundation, not to mention cementing any legacy.

Nothing will ever happen with the current plan, if the stand as it is has ballooned to £200mil we would have to give Sainsbury's £60mil for almost nothing.
Even Woody with his billions would be a fool to do that.

The current plan is not going to happen.
