It's a fecking JOKE. It was put off because of covid thanks to arguing over feck all with Sainsbury's and that cost has been way more than eaten by the gross inflation we've had since. Eventually promised to begin the build in 2024, then 2025, and we're at the end with f***ing NOTHING.

Whatever issues we have with Croydon council, we would have with any other local council, its not the councils job to help the club, if the club wants to redevelop Selhurst, then they have to commit to improving and investing in the local area. Thats just how it is.

I think that the Whitgift Foundation are the freeholders.

I remember at one time the subject of turning the pitch 90 degrees got talked about, it would in any event mean a few more houses would have to go but the council are already prepared to make some CPO's

Is there enough room for this. The Homesdale could be extended and a new end of pitch stand could be built without closing the ground. Once they open a new Whitehorse could be built the length of the pitch. It could also solve some of the problems with the Arfer.

Certainly enough space at Heavers farm. CPO on allotments? although they usually have some covenant on them, otherwise it would've been built on.

Arsenal are planning a fantastic redevelopment of the emirates to take it to 80,000.
It will look like the new Bernabau when completed increasing their capacity by 15-20,000.
This overhaul will cost c.£300-400M.
We really do need to shelve our current plans, step back and carefully consider our future.
The idea of £200m for an extra 8000 seats for one new stand is long gone.

We are established in the Premier. One of the best Chairman and Manger in the world right now.
Our billionaire owners all loving the ride and serious about the Palace, need to take a careful look at this. We would need government support to build a Super Stadium at CPNP where we would create a major spectacle for South London to be proud of. The southern gateway to the capital's sport.
We could start with say 45,000 capacity with a design to extend to 60,000 as we grow.
It's a unique story. We are Crystal Palace, the Eagles. Imagine what modern stadium designers could deliver with that script, on a site with plenty of space to construct, with a huge emotional reason. It was where the FA Cup began, getting crowds of over 100,000 and it IS Crystal Palace.
It will need the ODPM 100% behind it. Right up Woody Johnson's street. What a legacy for him.
If Parish, Glasner and our American board members get behind it, we would soar.
A dream to consider which we have the ability within our club to deliver.
And the best Premier fanbase to build from in South London.... and Proud.

Palace agreed to pay for certain aspects to change around the ground. A few wider pavements here and there. An extra pedestrian crossing. Renewed/updated road signage.

This is hardly making improvements to the area. Its relevant to the stadium we want to redevelop. Palace are not going to pay to regenerate the local area and why should they. No council has the right to blackmail business into paying for Council's commitments and they'd be named and shamed if they did.
No one is saying dodgy deals dont get done under the table but this is not the norm and its not expected and it never will be.

I was in the new stand at Fulham last season for the FA Cup game.
Lovely place to watch football. Looking at the ground it’s similar to how ours would be with the new stand.
Not sure it will happen. But something will/needs to.

Its not rubbish, its called a section 106, which you need for any big development, it's to compensate turning an area into a building site for a year. Why do you think Wimbledon and brentfords new stadiums are surrounded by brand new apartments, did you think the government built them ?

True. Was talking to some one that’s just got planning for 6 indoor Padel courts. Said he had to build an area for local kids to do their cycling proficiency. Costing him £150 grand. To get the planning.

Not Just Croydon. It's the culture in many councils.

The area gets some new roads or facilities or something promised never gets built, and the money disappears into someone's pocket instead.

Not including new hospitality suites, £200,000,000 for an extra 8000 seats equates to £25,000 per seat, which is insanely expensive!

The Hill Dickinson (which is supposedly a state-of-the-art 50000 seater) cost the equivalent of £15,000 per seat, if reports of a £750,000,000 build cost are accurate. Being built on the waterfront would have no doubt increased the costs significantly.

Taking into account the above, £600,000,000 doesn't seem unreasonable to be able to build a 50000 seater, even when considering the higher land cost in south London compared to Liverpool.

Of course, it's not my money, but at £12,000 per seat for a brand new stadium for the future, it has to be a no-brainer!
