Main Stand redevelopment thread

With our new share holder I think the ground will be upgraded all the way round , that what he does best and this will generate more income to improve the team and the area
Its a shame we cant temporaily relocate to CP park once the stadium there has been upgraded. Its a shame we couldnt have done a joint venture there saving the Mayor and Palace substantial millions but im sure the nimbies will put paid to that idea.

Wasn't the last excuse for the delay, inflation ? The excuses are just laughable now, as much as I love parish and think his an amazing owner and there's no one else I'd rather have leading the club. There's no way he's being completely transparent in regards to the stadium redevelopment. Id rather he was honest and just said it's not happening and won't be in his lifetime.

From what I've heard and dont shoot the sheriff or the messenger:
The pitch need to be relayed regardless of the main stand development
The area under the Holmesdale is being being watertight and to be used as an underground carpark
At some point the disabled area will be moved from the Main Stand to the front of the Whitehorse Stand
The main stand redevelopment project has been delayed for a season

It would be good if the club could provide a new update, the last one was December 2024 Crystal Palace Main Stand redevelopment - Crystal Palace F.C.

All of the above may have changed again of course and this info may be old.
Where are you getting that from?

that would never be passed at anytime and the cost would be through the roof , digging down would cause structural issue not just to the stand but surrounding houses , who ever told you that has not even played with lego bricks let alone construction of buildings

That work has been going on a while, there are some pictures around. So has the new temporary office area work behind the Whitehorse. The lower level will house temporary changing rooms I believe.
Presumably, that work will have to be completed before any foundation work can begin for the stand itself.
The disabled area at the front of the Whitehorse is also in the original plans, along with reducing that end to lengthen the pitch and a new covered seated area where the TV studio is.

I stand by what I said - its happening. £1m to make under the Holmesdale water tight

I would not be at all surprised to see the old stand become the new stand at a cost of £50m max.
No one in their right mind is going to spend £250m on one stand when the whole ground needs updating so badly.
Hopefully now we have got Woody, this will be re visited.

That's not a laughable excuse.

You have a finite budget.

20% inflation (?) over the years it took Croydon to decide means you don't have a budget.

Do we have to wait for a recession now then ? What about all the years it took the club blaming Sainsbury's over a bit of land ?
They had a ransom strip and used it.

It took forever as the shop dug in and we refused to be ripped off.

Simply paying up sends a very bad signal to the world that we are there for the taking. It did cost us though.

That said, during much of this delay, there were still issues with our "sympathetic" council. I am not sure there is an authority in the country who are as antagonistic to the major club who sit in its area than Croydon.

While I'd love for that to happen and at this early stage I'd imagine from WJ's point of view the will is there but he has probably not yet experienced the ridiculous hurdles and bureaucracy that comes with all building projects in London. Mind you, he has overseen projects in Manhattan so maybe I'm underestimating him. Get on the right side of the Mayor and who knows?

I’m not sure Woodys arrival will have much bearing on this topic or indeed the squad. He may politely suggest a review but he won’t pump in cash unless as a loan. His impact will be minimal unless he buys out the other two yanks and has effective control.
I’m not down on him because he enabled us to get rid of Textor. I just don’t think much will change at this juncture.

With his background on getting 'impossible projects' done I think we'd be mad not to tap into his experience to get this Main Stand sorted.

They're one of the biggest companies in the UK, they earn 10x a week what we earn in a year, do you honestly belive Sainsbury's would be that bothered about a small bit of land at one of their thousands of stores across the country and would intentionally hold the club to ransom over it ? No chance. Why would they ? It just makes no sense. Seems far more likely to me that the club wanted it on the cheap and soon realised they wouldn't get away with it against a company of that size and so spent years using that as yet another excuse.
