Loaned-Out Players

Who would you play him ahead of? Sarr? Eze? It’s a stretch to say he’s better than what we have when he has no Premier League pedigree and has performed fine but not outstandingly at Championship level.
Once we get past Eze (injured), Sarr (poor record), Nketiah (not a wide player), then we have Schlupp (clearly unfit) and Agbinone (who knows), Rak-Sakyi would walk into our squad. Probably wouldn't start if Eze and Sarr are fit but, frankly, would probably be better than Nketiah or Schlupp out wide.

From what we hear he was offered the chance to fight for a first team squad place but decided to go on loan instead. So sounds like OG wanted to do what you are suggesting but the player wanted more guaranteed game team.

Fair enough, I heard rumours of a few things. If we don't strengthen our wide areas, I wonder if we will, or can, recall in January? Unless Nketiah suddenly becomes an inside forward.

My understanding is that JRS can be recalled in January.

While it would be beneficial to have him as another option, I think it would be clutching at straws to think he will make a huge amount of difference much as I would like him to.

I also question how happy he would be to come back then as he apparently wanted out permanently in the summer.

Just to add JRS is 22. If was going to make it at Premier League level he probably would have done so by now. We have seen players develop later but it is increasingly rare. I expect he will be a player who makes his career in the Championship or League 1

I remember watching us lose 0-1 in freezing temperatures in a half-empty SP, in what I think was the last time we played them. Some guy shouting c**t every few minutes. The good old days.

You saying that reminds me of the only home game I missed the season we got promoted in 2004/05……6-3 win against Stoke 🤪

On the BBS they were talking about our academy youngsters with the usual pushing for this or that player to get into the first team.

Somebody then posted from the Guardian (where else) . Apparently each year it picks the most promising youngster from each of the PL clubs anyway the poster listed down our MVP's from the last 5/ 6 years.

None of these have made it to the first team and to be honest I hadn't heard of any of them although I don't follow our Academy that much.

Anyway his point was well made.

I went to Stoke away several times when I lived in the Midlands. Not to be highly recommended.

Yes mate, I went there a couple of times, Port Vale as well, I think bleak is the word I’d use

I witnessed our team play at Stoke's old ground 'Victoria Road'.
I believe the route to the stadium took me through a cemetery but I am now 'Long in the tooth' and I could be confusing this with another adventure.
It was the Victoria Ground I think - the away section was below the pitch. When there was the fencing too - seeing the match was chancy too. Plus, obviously it was raining every time.
I haven't been to the new ground. Hilariously, a sh1t team like Stoke can build a new ground whilst we still discuss a new stand. I remember it being grim there - when you say cemetery you are probably confusing it with the town centre.

I recall watching our team play at Port Vale in the early/mid 70s.

I believe we were defeated 2-1. I have a very vague memory of one of our players getting injured early in the game, possibly Tony Burns, but the encounter was in the 70s and my memory is fading with the passage of time !

You’re lucky, I went there in the mid 90’s and can’t remember a thing about it apart from taking a wrong turning after the game and ended up heading for Crewe🤣 I think we won 2-0
