I think there is nothing a fan likes more than to see one of the perceived poorer players develop into one of the most effective team players. I remember Alan Pardew amongst others was pretty hopeless when he started at Palace but then came good in the play offs and our cup final run in 1990. Living in Australia i don't get to go to any games now - does Kamada have a song ? I remember Al Al super AL super Alan Pardew but this came about after he nodded in the winner in the semi final against Liverpool.

And that's the rub. Expectation. Hughes was only going to be a squad player who is brought on to solidify midfield and slow things down by running around booting people. Taking cards for the team. It's why he is still some fans nominee for POTY as the tune Glasner got out of him was something far above that. It was a revelation.

But this guy. I expected Pirlo, but we got... me! People were entitled to be disappointed. But I reckon next season he is going to be the dog's cajones.
