Kamada will be an asset

I think a lot of the posters expressed the view that other players are playing better than him, seeing him picked before them, but getting paid half as much.

Reading between the lines, Parish's post match interview seemed to express the view that he had also been losing patience with Kamada.

However, all hopefully history now. And Glasner never seemed to doubt him.
 
I don’t think any of us expected a performance like that from Kamada - let’s face it there had been nothing in his previous outings in a Palace shirt to suggest he could mesh so brilliantly with Wharton and have so much confidence on the ball.
On Saturday Kamada was the player I hoped he’d be when we signed him - so it appears Glasner may know a little bit more about his players than most of us…. Who knew! 😁

to be fair there were signs of it at Newcastle and Arsenal and at home to Bournemouth, but just before the end the way he jinked in between two of their players and played a long ball into their half for our final attack was absolutely brilliant. You can't play the first eleven with the same tactics all the time, you get found out if you don't evolve, he gives us something new and fresh and less predictable, and if he performs to that level in the final City won't be able to come up with a way to stop him or prey on a weakness, like we did with Tielemans, because he hasn't shown a long run of form.

I think that in conclusion ;

* Kamada has taken a long time to adjust to Premier League football. As referred to in Parish's interview. His words suggested to me that although that was recognised, Parish also had faith in Glasners perseverance with the player. And we have started to see why.

* It was widely acknowledged by most on here that we could see there was ' a player in there somewhere '. We saw glimpses of his technical skills. It was the pace and physicality that was falling short. He looks like he's starting to find a way around that now.

* His partnership with Wharton was highly effective against Villa. Whether that continues to be the case will, I suspect, be subject to some tinkering by the manager and possibly opposition dependant. Whatever, that performance on Saturday was outstanding.

* To me anyway, it almost feels like we have a new signing. It's been a long journey for Kamada to get to his current performance levels. And now that he has he brings something different to the team.

* Finally, credit to him for enduring a difficult time and starting to emerge on the other side. Not easy when your work is subject to public scrutiny every week. His challenge now is to keep it going and beyond - I wish him all the best !
 
I'm going to reserve judgement on a Wharton/ Kamada midfield partnership.

Not out of negativity - we just haven't seen enough of it.

It didn't work v West Ham at home in the second half when their midfield partnership didn't function at all well and West Ham looked very comfortable in the victory.
It wasn't really used subsequently because of Wharton's injury and Kamada featuring more as a sub or played further forward.

More recently Kamada has had a few decent midfield cameo roles and now Wharton looks to be coming into form after struggling.

Personally I wouldn't use the partnership v City ( think DeBruyne, Kovacic, Foden) and would prefer a more combative midfield.

But thereagain, I thought the same for the Villa game and was proved wrong.
 
I don’t know if Kamada will ever be a real fans favourite, his style is not what we typically see, and for some expect in the premier league, but I do hope he can continue to give the sort of performance everyone saw on Saturday .
It sometimes is just the way it is for some players to not slot in perfectly, but it often comes good, does everyone remember their feelings about Mateta, for his first year or so?

I think this is a big part of the issue.

He's not fast, powerful, tough or skilful. He's tidy and tactically smart - not always easy to spot the good that he does.

And to compound the issue there others get away with mistakes because they then do something that looks great.

Eze can lose the ball repeatedly, but because he'll beat someone all is forgotten. Warton will misplace a few passes and then play a peach. etc etc

FFS it is one game. I'm really pleased Kamada played well, but him and Wharton are not a physical combo and will struggle against most teams who play 3 CMs. Wharton was running on empty after 75 minutes and i was urging OG to sub him.

For the larger Wembley pitch Kamada was an excellent choice especially as Hughes seems to be taking time to recover from his illness.

However, let's not pretend Kamada has been putting in these performances all season. He has clearly struggled in a CM position

That’s about it, he will work his way through games without producing the spectacular, so his mistakes become his more memorable moments for many watchers.

I think there is nothing a fan likes more than to see one of the perceived poorer players develop into one of the most effective team players. I remember Alan Pardew amongst others was pretty hopeless when he started at Palace but then came good in the play offs and our cup final run in 1990. Living in Australia i don't get to go to any games now - does Kamada have a song ? I remember Al Al super AL super Alan Pardew but this came about after he nodded in the winner in the semi final against Liverpool.

Yes, it's nice to see but to be honest I'd rather see a star come in, play brilliantly and then improve.
