Kamada will be an asset

Not according to the Sky Sports Stats:

69 touches - Passes 92.5% success rate

24.5% - forward passes
26.4% - passed to the left
25.4% - passed to the right
22.6% - passed back

Stats in football don't always give the full picture but do show what you said was patently untrue

Unless you were really unlucky to be not looking at the pitch 75% of the time and only saw his 15 backward passes. Maybe you had your head in your hands as you are sure he's bad you couldn't bear to look when the ball came to him?

He's not had a good impact so far. But he is improving.

BTW on pass accuracy Eze came out top today with 96.9% pass success rate

(Well Schlupp had 100% but only two touches)
Absolutely spot on. Went to the game yesterday and you can see him improving. He helped retain possession and linked between defence and attack. One poor shot aside, I thought his best game so far.

OG trusts him and it is evident that the manager knows what he is doing.

Interesting that he was basically joint second place in votes for MotM yesterday with Hughes who he played alongside. Obviously a huge distance behind Mateta but a long way ahead of anyone else. Now Mateta is on form I’d say Eze finding it is most important but Kamada behind that.

Thanks for digging that out. Hopefully will make a few think.

Whether we blame it on WH being poor or not, Kamada and Hughes dominated the midfield. A WH midfield of Alverez, Rodriguez, Paqueta and Soucek. With the team they put out, scoring was always going to be tricky, but dominating the midfield should have been the aim. Our lads did very well, give them credit vs trying to undermine

Sadly for some, Kamada has already been written off.

Likely the same people that wrote of JPM, and Lacroix, and are bashing Mitchel and Nketiah.

Spurs were hardly any better against us.
The worst performance against us all season was Newcastle. Where their only attempt was Guehi's own goal. They did it again yesterday against Bournemouth but Bournemouth took their chances - we didn't. This West Ham game was more akin to Leicester in the last game. Powder puff, lightweight dross with the wrong tactics, wrong manager, wrong selection.

Yes, I'd forgotten how inept Newcastle were against us.

Thanks for the very interesting stats 😎. But I never let the Facts get in the way of an optimistic outcome. COYP!

I was catching up with a mate this am who is a West Ham season ticket holder.

After moaning about his squad for a couple of minutes and then how he had always rated Mateta the conversation went
"who was that guy you had in midfield, he had a really good game"
"Yeah, Hughesy. He's been great this season"
"No not him the other one"
[Longish pause] "Kamada?"
"Yeah him, thought he had a good game"

So, I know as we've said it's a low bar, but I take this as another sign he's getting better with the Prem (although he should probably still stay off the long shots)

Some people only see what they want to see! The stats are interesting though and kind of reflected what I saw.

Similarly some are too blind to see. Providing support for the guy doesn’t unfortunately make him a better player. If it was that easy we could just pretend he is Cabaye and let him get on with it.

I expect you wrote off Hughes and Mateta initially.
I note you hardly ever post about a subject, just the poster.

If you must know, no I didn’t, but both Hughes and Mateta have been exceptional since Glasner arrived and were very ordinary under Hodgson. Weren’t you a Hodgson fan?

I get pissed off, when our players are constantly derided as useless by some posters.

Hodgson did a great job for a few years and had his methods, which didnt please everyone, but he kept us safe with little investment. Kamada is a tidy little player, that is adjusting to the fast pace and aggression of the Premier. Glasner obviously rates him as he was his choice, so he knows what he can do.

As a lover of German football as well(VfB Stuttgart especially😎) I saw Kamada play several times for Frankfurt(And a couple times for Lazio) and was very happy when we got him. He has immense talent and I think this last game shows that he is starting to get to grips with the Prem and especially on what Glasner wants him to do.

Some fans have the tendency to write off players too quick and that is a shame; Kamada will be just fine.

Will be great if he can produce immense talent. I guess it's not impossible considering Mateta.

We are a fickle lot, as with most footy supporters. Only at the start of last season and before many on here derided Mateta as “not a prem player” “donkey” etc., etc., and to a large extent that was true. Now, having settled in, he has all the qualities needed up front and is a great asset to the team. Like many, I am not yet convinced with Kamada, but he shows signs of being a decent prem player. Give him time.

Kamada had a much more solid game against West Ham and hopefully his performances will continue to improve. Prior to the weekend, my concern with him was the number of mistakes he was making, even when he wasn't under pressure. Even against Stockport he made a couple. He is also really lightweight and doesn't appear that quick. Like everyone in our squad I want him to succeed because it benefits the club, but I'm still not convinced he's the right fit for us. Here's hoping I'm wrong though.
