I think we should give him a free pass this season for various reasons but if he is still like this next season he has to go (No point paying this much money in wages for people who are just filling numbers)

Looking back I think that Palace played him up a bit too much when we signed him. It was all about how this player we're getting from Lazio that Glasner thinks is amazing and "he knows how we want to play" will be a replacement for Eze if he goes, but I remember seeing the video of him arriving at the training ground and being greeted by Glasner and thinking that there didn't seem that much of a connection between the two.

Add on all this talk of being the highest wage earner and our expectation is sky high. Perhaps a lesson to be learned by the marketing team at Palace, if you put someone up on a pedestal before they've kicked a ball, then don't be surprised if they fall off.

I do feel sorry for the lad as he is completely out of place it seems.

He just looks lost and wondering where he should run and what should he do.

The last two games it has not felt like we've gone down to 10 men when he comes on, but he's still nowhere near the standard of the PL. Don't get me started on his wages. I wonder if it affects the other players like Hughes, La Croix and Munoz (who pout in week after week) if they see poor performances being rewarded with higher salary?

His supposed salary incites a lot of opinion, nearly always quoting incorrect figures. His weekly wage is £47,000, his signing on fee was £6.14m spread over his 2 year contract, making £106k a week. His total cost for his 2 year contract £11m, to compare with Nketiah which is £275.9k a week or £43m over period of his contract.
That is why players like to run their contracts down, so they get a signing on fee at a new club.

I’ve never felt he was as bad as people on here have made him out to be. His start wasn’t helped by being played out of position when we were short of DMs. He’s taking time to adapt to the PL particularly as he hasn’t played that much especially in his preferred position, but he is definitely finding his feet. He has an eye for a pass and could ultimately be a better fit with Sarr and Mateta than Eze is.

Expecting Kamada to turn into the player we originally anticipated is about as likely as Nketiah being top scorer this season.

I disagree Eagle. His performance at Leicester was as much refreshing as it was surprising. I have been one on here knocking some of his very poor performances. But credit where credit is due. He showed the other night why I believe Glasner has persisted with him. If he continues in this vain, then we really will be strengthening our midfield options.
With regard to Nketiah, well let's just hope the Glasner magic is going to get sprinkled on him too.

To be clear I don't mind quick one touch play when attacking, it's when he was receiving it off the defenders and played it to no-one that was bugging me!

I think there is a decent footballer trying to get out, but he still struggles with the pace of the Prem.

All I can say is you are easily refreshed as I watched the game again yesterday and saw nothing to suggest that he could replace Lerma, Hughes, Wharton or Doucoure. He was also playing against a poor team. But heh it’s all about opinions.

This is not in my mind about whether he can play the game because they all can at this level, but whether he justifies the cost when we also have Devenny who’s hardly put a foot wrong.

His strongest position would also appear to be inside left which is where Eze plays and Esse possibly in the future so he is unlikely to get a long term run at that position, (unless Eze goes and in which case I’ll have less interest in watching us anyway).

Lerma, Hughes and Doucoure are all DCMs. Doucoure more positional, Lerma, Hughes more high energy. Its not a like for like comparison. If we had a team full of the aforementioned we'd not score in a month of Sundays.

Kamada did of course make the goal against Stockport, and Nketiah should have made it 2 assists.

i cant defend Kamada, and say that everything has been perfect. But as I said previously its clear that technically he's pretty good. Has vision, can finish and pick a pass.

I think the issue is the physically and speed of the league. At the start of the season he was WAY off the pace, but of late he's contributing, and often looking better than the player he's come on for.

So the point of the thread, is that he's showing signs of adapting to the league. And with some players that does talk time. Lacroix has been relatively quick, but look at JPM. Biggest frame but refused to use it for the first couple of seasons. Now bullies some of the best defenders in the league.

There was an audible groan around us yesterday when OG decided to sub our best player on the evening, Will Hughes for Daichi yesterday. In fairness, and although against lesser opposition he was good against Stockport, and better in his 30 minutes last night. Made a few telling tackles and some good defence-splitting through balls. Hope he is finding his feet and fingers crossed he comes good. In Ollie we trust. Well done Daichi.

We only play with 2 midfielders therefore those players have to be combative, energetic, capable of breaking up play and able to link play between wing backs and our front three. You say Kamada isn’t comparable to these and I agree he isn’t suitable for those positions , so where does he fit?

His best position is probably where Eze plays but I don’t see him being dynamic and taking people on in that role which therefore limits our attacking capabilities. I just don’t see him successfully adding to our current set up of 5-2-3

I could see him in a diamond midfield as front midfielder in a 4-4-2 but otherwise I don’t get how he improves our team.

Ollie has previously said he can play as a 6, 8 or 10. When he came in for Hughes against Leicester he gave us a greater measure of control to see the game out. He sees a pass and is recognising he has to make that pass quickly in this league. I’m not sure he’ll be a starter, but he improves the depth if our team by being available off the bench to replace a DM or whoever is in the Eze role.

At present, he could be:

An Ebs/Sarr replacement
A Hughes/Lerma replacement if we are chasing a game

If he continues to improve physically:

A CM starter against teams we are expected to dominate the ball

Which is understandable when you look at previous performances but also a shame. He hasn't done anything amazing yet and still might not but I'd love him to turn it around and will try to either get behind him or just keep quiet. Slagging off your own is not a good look. Its the kind of thing thats freely accepted among Spuds or Spanners fans. We're better than that

I thought against Leicester that was as good as I’ve seen him play so far.

However, if I looked at his contribution in isolation ( so forget who he is, his playing record to date etc ) it was still distinctly average. If that had been a youth team graduate making is first or second appearance I would have thought he did ok and didn’t embarrass himself - but not much more than that.

That does show an upward trend though so I hope he can build on that and grow in confidence. Then we might see what he’s really made of

Might end up being the best 'free pass' we ever had.

He's likely to get significant game time on Saturday.
Lerma is out, leaving us with a likely central midfield of Doucoure and Hughes.
I can't see them both playing the full game and would expect Kamada to feature.
I'm trying to focus on what he can offer rather than focus on the negative.
I like that he passes the ball forward and always makes himself available to receive the ball from teammates.
He's adept at nicking the ball off opponents on occasions.
He can get bypassed , but you hope that there's enough defenders back to offset this problem.
