Kamada will be an asset

Allegedly he is the highest paid player in the squad so we have a right to expect much, much better from him. It almost seems that Glasner is constantly trying to justify his cost and wages by constantly playing him in the hope he will come good.

He's had enough time so we should now try to move him on together Edouard and Holding. Unfortunately their combined transfer worth is unlikely to fund the purchase of anybody decent.

I still regret we didn't go for Wan-Bissaka who is earning consistent good reviews in a mediocre Hammers team - at £15 million he was a more sensible purchase than Kamada or Holding. Seeing Olise, Eze in the stands with Wilf makes me wonder if we are going to get Zaha back. He wouldn't be Glasner's choice but he might be Parish's.

Nah, think I prefer Nunoz over WBS.

Dont make the mistake of thinking that Celtic has 4 Japanese players so they must be good. Edouard looked like Pele in the Scottish Premiership and cannot get on the bench at Leicester. I am not sure what has happened to Scottish football in the last generation or two, European elite leadership seems to have evolved into a world of curling and drug misuse.

Edouard had one decent season. Celtic did what Arsenal and Liverpool have done- sold us a pup. Kyogo and Maieda are decent players who are scoring goals in the Champions League. Scottish football doesn’t have the money Sky et al have poured into the PL so can’t attract decent players and our best home grown players head south for the money.
In the good old days when Scottish teams were part of the European elite kids played football in the streets, the 60s equivalent of cage football. The Celtic team that won the European Cup all came from within a few miles of Celtic Park. Those days are long gone.

Of course you’re right, I’ve always banged that same drum about signing players from Celtic as well, , especially as you say even Edouard was a goal machine up there. But I’ve always thought their Japanese players look good individually having watched them in the World Cup as well, they always seem so swift and mobile, unlike Kamada

Glasner clearly sees something in him and has made positive comments about his contributions. I’ve watched him recently and I think he is used when the opposition overload midfield. Because we play with a back three we can be outnumbered in midfield. Kamada is never going to be a physical player. What you’ll often see is he positions himself to attempt to block passes to 2 players allowing Hughes and Lerma to press the ball carrier. He’s always looking both ways to see where players are moving and trying to cover the options. If we do win the ball he moves to take a pass.
Arsenal were just too good for that to work but he did what he could. It’s not a role Eze could do for sure. I think Olly knows what he’s doing and it’s a pity the lad gets stick all the time.
I cheered when he got subbed yesterday because he's so poor!
I want him to succeed but it's not going to happen.
Can't attack, can't defend, what's left ?
We've had some awful players at palace but he stands out especially.
A weak link who can't afford to be played

If you truly want him to succeed then don’t try to publicly shame him. Piling on the pressure is not going to help him. If he does come good (and Glasner must think he will) you have to get behind him and the whole team!

Spot on.

Fans who do this kind of reaction are not welcome.

Presuming that Kamada is following instructions and taking up positions recommended by Glasner, is he (Kamada) currently ineffective because he is not up with play, in the wrong place to receive a pass, or perhaps team members just don't pass to him? Maybe his brief is to jog around, look busy but not touch the ball. Who knows?

Not welcome by who? I’d rather out a player who isn’t up to it than give him a free ride.
His salary suggests he should have hit the ground running, but it wasn't to be. Next best is expecting him to have acclimatised to the EPL by now, that doesn't appear to have happened either.

The fact that they were all from so close contributes to me rating that as the best game I have ever seen

It's all about the money. If there was anyone in Scottish football any Premier league club wanted they'd get him without even trying. The highest paid player in Scotland is on £3,000 a week less than Matt Turner is getting at Palace.
The whole league is insanely non competitive; the top 44 highest paid players are all at either Celtic or Rangers. Number 45 is on £7,500 a week.

I sometimes wonder how fans collectively determine who should be the boo boy.
Is it one loud heavily critical fan whose opinion is picked up by others leading to a collective groan and finally a Mexican Wave torrent of abuse?
I fairness Palace fans aren’t too bad in general.

It does escape me though why certain players are chosen, while other candidates are ignored.
Kamada has been disappointing, but at least is busy and appears to display effort.
Edouard, for example, has been very disappointing and also doesn’t see to try too hard - admittedly this is partly due to his lackadaisical style.
However, Edouard has never received the level of criticism that Kamada has.

Things can change though.
I recall periods when there were groans when Ayew featured, even when it was clear that he was trying hard.
However, towards the latter end of his Palace care he had become a firm favourite.

Fans can be wrong too.
Grant Xhaka was despised by Arsenal fans and had stand up arguments with them leading to him losing the captaincy.
However, he went on to demonstrate that he’s a top midfielder.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Kamada.
If things don’t improve significantly for him, I could see him being sold at the end of the season.
A case of the wrong player being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I agree. Some players just seem to get stick. I seem to remember Sorloth getting regular abuse for being too slow and not good enough for the Premier League. Whatever happened to him?

I have been an avid supporter of our club since the 60s and during my long years of devotion, I have experienced many of our players subjected to fustigation and brickbats. Trevor Aylett, Tommy Langley, Alan Pardew, Ade Akinbiyi to name a few.I might have even joined in the chorus of execration !

Nicky Chatterton, the son of Len the groundsman, was another one to receive dog's abuse.
Malcolm Allison persisted with him and Chatterton came up trumps with some valuable goals when making late runs from midfield.
Those under 60 won't remember him.

Malcolm was never afraid to fly in the face of public opinion. Sometimes it felt as though he'd turn round to fly into it.
